Here is garn627s Daytona,, felt it was a little weak so he wanted a little matified FRD power added. turned out pretty good, this is the video right as we finished up .

Custom crank (not off the shelf)with +4mm rod length, custom fullskirt piston (superlight),custom cylinder.

BBR Daytona cam, Garns own porting, FRD manual cam chain tensioner. 6 disc clutch (needed it for sure).

This crazy engine fired up on the first kick!!

Thanks again Matt! This motor rips! It's way smooth, tons of bottom end and revs to the moon! Good combo!

We'll see how much more HP the DOHC gives it in a few weeks when it shows up! I'm going to run the stock head for practice and run the DOHC when I race!

Good build, what's the $$$$ to build up that engine, did you have to do any internal mods?

Any plans on going bigger or is that the max?
when you say internal mods??

to the castings,,

But a completly different crank, (not the sort rod "160" crank)

Different cylinder, piston, timing chain, chain adjuster and tensioner.

Aftermarket cam, 6 disc clutch, HO style oil filter.

Have not pinned down a cost yet.

this bike feels and sounds nasty,,, the way it revs is gnarly!! if you touch the throttle it revs IMMEDIATLY!! i cant wait to ride it today and see how nasty it is behind the bars

Give us some feedback, l want to do something but in no hurry as l see it standard gives 15hp, but on the dohc and it gives it another 4hp, hi comp piston and cam and some porting gives it another 2hp, so thowing in the longer crank ought to be putting it closer to the dohc, properly the way l'll go..

I personally have found them In stock form to be weak,, more in the 12+hp range,, the cam and piston help a bit,, not so sure about 2hp?? but maybe,

we did some test runs today against a YX 160 )172cc) Yx 4 valve with a custom cam (one that actually works well with this head) a tb 28 and PC pipe and right out of the hole they were pretty even, the in 3rd and 4th Garns engine would pull a little more than a bike length, the Daytona with a pistom, cam,and PWK 28 could not stay within in 6 bikes through the gears.

bike felt great!! good power, but very smooooooth!! amazing throttle response on the track,,, and yes my daytona 150 has the cam and piston and did not make that much difference,, (not really worth the $200 to get the cam and piston, but gave me a lil more bottom end is about all the difference it made) as far as 2 hp NO WAY,,, lol.. back to garns daytona 171,, i cant wait to do mine!! simply bada$$... pretty even through 1st and half of 2nd but after that,, i ate roost haha

what things did you have to do to get the 4mm stroke in?

i have a 2mm offset pin in mine at the moment making it 160cc.

i had to

make a big base plate for the barrel.

put a longer cam chain in.

re-weld the cam chain tensioner

and shave down the copper head washer to give some more stud thread.

and what compression are you running with the 171cc setup?

I watch the video about 30 times but it had nothing to do with the motor. It was all in your style Matt. How you went slung your leg over and went straight to the kicker without even putting the kicker foot on the ground lol. Just one smooth transition to kicking. Got to love it. Hell you even smiles a little lol

I rode this setup last night- wow it is killer. Bike has much better torque than the stock daytona 150 but still pulls the high RPM. Killer set up for sure. Bike is right there with my 155 HO with V2 head and PWK 28 carb.

FPM 195

V2 head with 5 way valve cut and extensive port work by john adams

custom long throw intake

pwk28 polished

Forged Wiseco piston (7 grams lighter than the taky 67mm scut, and it has a skirt!)

bottom end is kinda a secret but its a gone through yx with bearings. etc

Tokyo mods stage 3 digital ignition

manual cam chain tensioner

on U4.4 it pulls harder than my 250f, lol.
