Keihin FCR28 Down Draft Carb

 

I can only hope my motor build will be able to pull an FCR 28 downdraft...

I dunno if they do. Ive seen a FCR33 unit aswell, but the FCR28 is the smallest Ive seen.

 

You don't see very many of those as most people don't want to spend $700+ for a carb setup.

 

$500 or so

If anyone can find an FCR carb for a reasonable price (say 150 used) please let me know. I have been looking for one.

Also, this carb is really meant for very large displacement and tuned engines. Putting it on a takegawa 124 or something even meaner would be where it is best applied...at least this size. I don't believe they make them smaller than 28mm



If I had money burning a hole in my pocket, I'd have 2 of these...one each for both my 143 and 147cc engines. But, I prefer using the Mikuni 28mm flatslides, because for the cost versus performance, I think it is a better deal.



And, for those that hate tuning a flatslide, sure, it is a PIA, but once you get it setup (and yes it takes about 2 hours to get it nailed) you'll have better preformance than your round slides.

 

Where is a good place to source a 28mm Mikuni flatslide?

www.pro-flo.com They sell the boots cheap too. wait until you see the cost difference between ordering here and from, say, anyone with the 28mm kit!

i think you should take the carb off and run the fuel line strait down the hole

 

- i have been meaning to order a FCR downdraft kit for my z50R superhead.

the kitaco kit comes with everything you need to use the carb, including a new throttle tube which uses 2 push-pull throttle cables, the air funnel, and intake flange.



im going looking for any other kits now.

You know, I bet someone could machine a sleeve (or an insert from either end of the carb) to reduce it down to a 26 or a 24.

Yeah it wouldnt be too hard to turn it down. But why? lol.

 

A picture of a heavily modifield z50j. There was going to be a long manifold and a downdraft Walbro carb. Frame and gastank are modifield for that reason. Don't remember the engine manufacturer, but it is 125 cc. I haven seen this arter the picture was taken, so I don't know how it runs.

No but it is a pumper carb and a big one.

 

Yeah I want to see downdrafts though.
