did we lose our perspective?

For Christmas I bought my daughter a little scooter (non-motorized) I was bashing it around in the basement because I was bored and I broke it and I thought to myself what a piece of junk! Then I looked at the label and it said made in China, then I thought, "figures, everything is junk from there."

Yet somthing grabbed at me that day that has changed my perspective about things. I'm 5'11, 195lbs thrashing on a toy made for ages 4+, then because it wasn't indestructable I got pissed at it.

Most of us on here have at one time or another been pissed because our piece-o-crap pit-bike broke on us.

They are designed for little kids, ages 4+, why are we getting pissed off when we thrash them harder than any 4+ year old would even consider and we brake them?

Yes, yes I realize that I'll receive the Captian Obvious award for this thread but we need to fix our perspective.;) Any thoughts?

Seriously, everything is made in China these days. The quality is getting better, and will countinue to get better. We are creating a giant monster, over there. Barely anything is made in the USA anymore. Very scary, IMO.

yea but Z50/CT70/ZB50s arent jumped usually and probably dont take the abuse the pitbikes do. before i get told off by someone im not saying road racing or riding isnt hard on these bikes, im sure its killer on the motors at the least. but that would be one reason youve never had any problems with your stuff, and youre good at building stuff right the first time lol

i agree we shouldnt get mad when stock parts break or china parts because we all know they are crap. BUT when your $400+ frame snaps or you $300+ shock blows you have every right to get pissed because they are designed for adults and shouldnt break, easily anyway

Our bikes are not built for 4 year olds. They are built for adults but I think what your getting at is maybe they weren't built to launch 100 foot jumps? Our bikes can hold up to very large jumps and alot of abuse, we just ask people to be safe.

But yes, products fail from everywhere

its the chinese crap bikes that are marketed for adults that I am mad with.

but I'm not mad at the ones that are now making their bikes right, like motovert, pitster, ogm, etc

Man I like the comments, Z one thing I can say to you is props on building your own bikes, if I built my own I'd put lots of love into it so it wouldn't break but I'm not there yet so I have to buy from somone and as a school teacher my budget is limited.

PP Parts I kinda agree and disagree with you, the bike started out for kids so the frame, the lack of a cradle ect is still for kids, I know they've beefed them up quite a bit but it's like building a bridge for motorcycles then beefing it up for semi's, it's just the wrong way to go about it. But it is what it is and we shouldn't be mad about it. :)

BTW my 08 motovert has lots of hours on it with no breaks and I jump it quite a bit.

I was just pulling your chain. Some of the pitbikes are built for kids and do have issues when ridden by adults. The Honda CRF50 OEM frame would be an example. How many choppered stock frames are out there from adults abusing them? A ton.

Just so you know. Even though items on the market may seem like they are from the USA, if you look closely at some of the packaging, you'll notice a "made in Taiwan" label on the piston or head box.

Nothing last forever....

Ya'll said it! Threads like these is what PM is about.

I don't think America could make a quality pit bike that would compete with Motovert, OGM, SSR, or Pitster for the same price. Too many union chaps needing $30/hour to locktight everything....

It's not that the parts are poo. It's mostly because of quality control. The original item may be a good part, but when it comes to making thousands of these items. The quality control is poo which makes the part that is shipped to the USA poo.

bummer.

So true Gary.

I even know of parts that are assembled, welded, glued or snapped together that are from over seas and it still says MADE IN USA on the part.

funny stuff.

Seriously China puts lead in paint on toys and poison in baby food and dog food. how would I ever trust them? Plus you are supporting communism...

oooh, c'mon..what's the relation between a nation that try to get better and better and communism? Every nation contains a bad spirit somewhere deep inside..

Not to talk about that this(the forum) should be apolitic...and i am not a communist for sure!:)

No society is good for all, but some are good for most, communism is only good for the few higher up's.

Do a quick search on france and you'll see that before they were a socialist society they made all their major advances, and after socialism they have advanced nothing. Sadly it looks like America is heading the same direction. Better buy a better seat for you mini you'll need it as a commuter.

I am not being political, these are just the facts. I sux because I wish I could afford a full BBR bike, but all I can afford is a pitster. Which sux because I am hesitant to even buy one for these reasons. Do I really want to go 40mph, and over jumps etc on a bike that could fail? probably not the best idea. Until I hear of major improvements or changes to that countries manufacturing I will buy Jap. Hs anyone here ever seen a Sunl. It is the flimsiest bike I have ever seen. Looks cool from about ten fet away but when you ride it it is a jalopy. This is just my two cents takie it for what it is worth.
