Just to let everyone know, DRATV no longer accepts phone calls. Read the info page on their website. Basically, you have to order what you think MIGHT work, and hope it does. They won't take returns if it doesn't work. They used to offer great customer service and would help you pick the correct parts, now they SUCK. They will only communicate via email. I sent them an email last week saying I had a lot of parts I wanted to order for a couple of different bikes and needed some assistance in chosing the correct parts and they responded telling me they don't talk to customers on the phone anymore and that I have to email my questions. I emailed back saying I had a lot of questions and it could be handled quickly if someone would call me (I gave them my number), but they responded saying they would not call me either. I told them I was ordering about $2000.00 in parts and they said they would rather lose a customer than alter their new company policy. Just thought you all might want to know.

I emailed my question and they not only answered in a return email but the order form for what I needed was built into their reply. Very cool. I guess everyone has their opinion though.

Ya they dont suck. The way they do it you wont get the wrong part for your needs and might learn something while figuring out what it is you need and its been that way for a good while now. Tell ya the truth I been useing them since 2002 and spent alot of money thru there website and never needed to call them.

I've ordered probably 70% of all my new parts from them. Never had an issue. Never once. It was through Dratv that I found parts for the chinese knockoffs like the 107's 86cc's and anything with the 49,5 crank. Dratv has had these parts long before anyone else.

If you know your motors, you know what will work. Therefore Dratv is an excellent source. If you don't know anything, go with someone else. Don't forget...those other people are baking in the cost of customer service right into their product. Dratv is no frills.

I'll continue to use them just as I have used them since 2001.

Never a problem Either... So If you got questions on their parts bring up the application your using for your motor on Here. and when you order from them there will be no questions.

I actually have had good luck with them up until now. You used to be able to call and talk to Jack if you had a question. They actually told me they would rather lose me as a customer than call me on the phone. I have ordered 1000's dollars worth of items from them since I got into minis 3 years ago, but I consider it very poor business management to alienate a customer over a phone call. I am very familiar with these motors and have built many of them for myself and friends, but the questions I had were not getting answered by email. I emailed them back and forth for 4 days and was not getting the questions answered so I asked them to call me. That is when I was told they would not call me and would rather lose a customer than violate their company policy of "no phone calls".

This is only my experience and I am just voicing my opinion. There are other sources out there for the same parts they carry and I would rather buy from someone else now. Do with my opinion what you like.

I sent DRATV an email letting them know how much I spent today on parts that I was willing to order from them and this was their response:

oh my

we only see about 1000.00 total ever from us

again good luck

I just placed another order with another supplier for $210.00 plus shipping. Total for the day, $2269.00. These were for parts you carry.

Was it really too much to ask for a phone call?

I kinda think your making a big deal about this phone call stuff. I know you e-mailed them, but there are also many knowledgable people on these forums that you could have asked about the Dr.ATV stuff aswell.

Can you tell me how to wire a Jialing 124 motor that doesn't have a lighting coil but a has a 12V stator into a Panda Monkey bike with a 6V CDI ignition? If so, please let me know. That is not a sarcastic response, I really do need to know. The reason I emailed them is because they do know. Is it really too much to ask for a phone call from a company you are spending money with? Is it good customer service when the owner of the company tells you they would rather lose your business than call you? I run a company with several hundred employees and several thousand customers nationwide and I have run 5 other companies as well. I do know a thing or 2 about customer service and I know that it is always a bad idea to alienate customers. I know I probably spend more than most on minibikes and I know that 20% of all customers account for 80% of all revenue in any business (80/20 rule). I am sure I am in the 20% bracket. Good companies put a lot of effort into keeping the 20% customer because that is where the money is. It is always easier to keep a customer than get one back.

I had a rather bad time when ordering a part from Beatrice/DrATV...

Frist of all, if you didn't know I work in Japan for the US government. This means that all parts sent to me can be shipped through an APO. This requires the use of USPS, and means that shipping charges are the same to San Francisco, Ca. Uncle Sam pays the rest of the shipping from SF to Tokyo. I commute on my XR50 and can't have it down for too long.

I ordered the big port CT70 head, so I could get that extra up top that I was looking for. They had a warning on the site that said they will only send to a varified PayPal addy. Which in my case is an APO. I emailed them asking if they would send to an APO via USPS priority mail, and they replied that it would not be a problem. I placed the order, but like many companies in the US, their automated ordering system uses drop boxes for state. These drop boxes LACK the APO options. That and my zip code 96338 shows as an invalid zip. In order to make the order, since I could NOT call, I put in bogus info for the shipping address. The billing area did allow for the use of APO, huh go figure. I clicked the box, and used my PayPal for payment because it has a varified address, and my parts fund is there. Beatrice/DrATV gladly took the Paypal, and said the part was shipped.

3 weeks later I had still NOT seen the part. Then a partial refund pops up into my Paypal account. I email them, and asked why I had not recieved the part, and why it was a partial refund. They said the part had been shipped out, but was returned to them for a bad address. I asked how this was possable as I have ordered a few hundred things from a few companies out there that never have an issue. They used the bogus info I had to put in to complete the order, despite their "company policy" to only send to a paypal verified address. The refund was the shipping cost minus PayPal fees.

I emailed them again to find out was with this deal, and all I recieved in return was "if you want to try again, we can ship the package out for you, please send $xxx and we will have it in the mail. Ironically enough the ammount the quoted me was $5 MORE then the first purchase.

This has been the deciding factor to NEVER purchase something from them again. I would much rather pay a couple extra bucks to get a place I can get GOOD customer service from.

One thing I have NOT missed about the US is the customerservice. Japan has it down perfect, and I wich the US would take a lesson from here. We will take a gas station. Even the discount pump yourself places have an attendant outside to help you with any problems. Once you have finished pumping the gas, they give you your recipt, and a bow. Then walk into the road to stop traffic, and let you out of the station. The full service, which is like 3 cents/liter more will wash your windows, take your garbage, empty your ash tray, and pump exact amounts. then they do the block traffic thing again. Both stations as you drive away, the person bows and thanks you in a very polite manner for buying there. When I got my bike regestered I went to the regestration office with my title paperwork and insruance stuff. I met with the guy after waiting in line for 5min. He took my stuff and asked me to sit down. The waiting area was clean, comfortable, and had a free Tea dispenser. For the next 10min he ran, yes RAN, around the office to the different stations getting everything done for me. He came back out with regestration forms, and my license plate in hand. The amazing part was, they did this for everybody in that office. The list goes on and on. It is just one of MANY reasons I may never move back to the US.

IMOA it is just plain customer service to be available for you customer to call you up. Some people feel more comfortable talking to a person and they are some are not very computer savvy. Then there are some people, like myself, who would rather use email. I now sometimes it is irritating when you get a customer on the phone who goes on and on and on when your busy with 100 different things, but, that is all part of being in business. I try to get customer to use the email process as much as possible, but, you still have take their calls whenever possible.

I agree 100%. Most customer service SUCKS in the US. I just love it when I have a problem with my Dell computer and call their 800 number and get some guy in Malaysia who I can barely understand.

the problem with them is that they are old, Old people are usually cranky and stubborn. Plus they wont ship to Canada anymore:mad:

I know the guy who used to be thier Canadian importer, and one day they just decided they didnt want to deal with him anymore and cut him off.... just like that, said it wasnt worth thier time.... I would buy tons of stuff from them cause they have all the little odds and ends that are such a hassle to find, but alas, no dice

There are three ways to do this...the easy way, moderate way, and the hard way:

Easy Way: If you are running an engine with no lighting coil, it is safe to assume you are not running lights and just coil and only need spark generation. Therefore, put the engine in as is and use the existing wiring harness as is. Now, change the coil to a 12V coil and the CDI to a 12V CDI. Done. Run a 12V Plug.

Moderate Way: Take the 6V CDI Ignition off the Panda and mount it on the Jialing Engine. If the flywheel tapers are off, purchase the flywheel conversion sleeve from vina-performance.com for $5. You will have to email him as he doesn't sell the sleeve off his site. Then, wire up as normal. I see no reason why the backing plates and flywheels will be different but sometimes they are a little. Run the 6V Plug.

Hard Way: Now, with your bashing of DRATV, this may get difficult, since I will be referencing his parts. Run one of his 6V line converters from the output wire off the backing plate converting the 12V to 6V. The CDI Signal and ground need not be touched. The 12V power will come into the converter, change to 6V and line feed as normal. This should be the red/black wire or the one that goes into the CDI from the backing plate.

odd, from what I understood this question could only be answered of the phone.
