Actually this model is a California smog legal bike, no one else has these features added, it has exhaust gas recirculation, evaporative collection , catalytic converter, carbon canister etc. No one has went to the added expense of getting these 50 state legal.

While the bikes look similar, they are different.

Thanks man.

I already have the rev box from another project so thats why I listed it.

I have a big valve 125 Lifan with a lighting compatible strator so it may get swapped out if the stocker is a dog.

I am hoping to wake it up a little with the VM26 versus the 22mm that its running now.

I will let you know what direction I go.

Does anyone know of a head kit for this motor specifically, perhaps thats a better way to do this..?

Just got a call from the freight company and we have scheduled delivery on Thursday morning.

So far Pitster pro has been on the mark with service and delivery; the MSO should arrive in the mail a few days after the bike.

Also have a few extras are already on the way...

Billet bar clamps from Vince at T-Bolt

Chrome 280mm rear shocks. (I have attached a pic below)

Sorry for the delay in pictures.

Here are a few that I snapped when the crate arrived last week. I have since assembled the bike completely aside from installing the battery.

I plan on going to get it inspected in 100% stock trim this week and will then begin the tear down and build up with the aftermarket parts.

A HUGE thanks goes out to Pitster Pro for a fast turnaround on the order and for using a great shipping company that got this baby to me without a scratch or dent anywhere!

More updates later this week.

I was able to get insurance through Progressive for only 80 bucks per year (6.66 per month).

Tomorrow is the state inspection and next week I will be headed to the DMV for plates!

I will have a ton of pictures posted after this weekend as I plan to start the upgrades on Friday.

Does anyone know the actual top speed (stock) of one of these bikes? I havent even fired it up yet, but wanted to get a base line before making gearing changes and swapping out the wheels, carb, pipe etc.

The 2011 skyteam skybongo(gorilla) is stated to have a topspeed of 89kmh.(2011 model now has 10" wheels, 2010 and before had 8" wheels)

My skyteam lmp125(monkey model with alu frame and 10" wheels) did 93kmh(58mph) stock, after run in period. It showed 6kW on the dyno.

Now it has a daytona 150 engine, completely different animal.

Interesting... My Skyteam Gorilla MSO is running 8 inch wheels and is listed as a 2011. I wonder if the states import it configured differently. Either way I have the 10's to swap out as well.

Thanks for the info on top end. I hope to get 60 mph with 16:28, 10's, pipe and the VM26 on the motor.

Since today is inspection day for the little bike, I had to get it tightened up last night and ready for the road.

Once the battery was filled and the gas went in it fired right up.

Even though this tranny is a one down 3 up, I was suprised how well it shifted through the gears and also how easy it was to find N.

On my other Lifan motor it was always tricky..or impossible..

Anyway after a warm up and inspection I took it around the area a few times to see how it ran. Overall the bike is smooth, pulls okay and has a great seating position. It is much more comfortable than my 82 Z with the stock seat. Although its early in the break in period I did pin it a few times to see what type of top end it would pull. The best I could muster (bone stock) was 85 KPH (52.82 MPH) and it wasnt for lack of room- that was all it had. Now- I havent swapped out 8's for 10's and its still running really choked out with all the emission equiptment and a small pipe/carb combo. I wouldnt be suprised if it gets into the mid-high 90's (59-60 MPH) once that has happened and the motor is properly broken in.

Overall though- what a fun little ride.

More updates this weekend (pics)

One step closer...

She passed state the inspection- no sweat. I also asked about emissions control devices for the state of Texas and the guy told me that for any bike under 200cc no SMOG testing is required. Thats good news as I planned on dropping all that gear anyway. I have included a picture of the tangled mess of hoses and valves for the EPA gear that is sucking the life out of the motor right now. Also included is one last picture of the bike as it sits prior to the rebuild.

Registration is next week and I am stuck on what plate to get for it.

Texas has the following available:

ZFIDDY

NOTA50

HFM

125Z (I might go to a 150 so this isnt the best option)

APE125

Teardown and build up pictures to follow later this weekend.

I managed to get a night of wrenching in on Friday and the transformation has begun.

Still waitng on more parts to get here and also time to continue with the build, but here are a few pictures that will update you all on the progress thus far.

Installed so far:

10 inch wheels

+1.5 Swinger

TB Rev Box

KOSO Tach

Kitaco Catch

VM26 Carb/Intake

New grips/bar ends

Upsweep pipe

Tons more work to do...

-HFM

Pictures:

I took one of the handle bars so you can see the KOSO tach mounted on the left side. It fits perfectly.

I haven't completed the bracket for the steering damper so its just hanging there for test fitting.

I am also working on the catch can and steel lines for fitment, but you should be able to see the direction I am going.

The blue color will remain, but look for a little white striping down the center of the tank as well as the 82 Z style Honda Wings. (yellow/gold)

An HRC graphic will be in red white and blue over the battery cover.

I have ordered another seat from TB that has white piping to tie it all together.

Thanks for the comments.

A few minor updates...

I didn't get any time with the bike last night other than a few minutes for some test fitting and minor part swaps. You will notice that there is a subtle carbon-fiber theme creeping out- but it will be limited to just the exhaust can, catch can, blinker stalks and bar ends. It looks tasteful and its a good contrast against the chrome and blue.

Attached are photos from my phone- I promise that once the bike is done that I will shoot higher res photos with a real camera and maybe a video as well. right now its the quickest way to feed this post.

Attached are test fits for: new blinkers, bar ends, billet bar clamps and the HRC decal for the battery cover.

The weekend is almost here so expect more changes and updates to this post soon.

It's a good day in the office when parts start to roll in...

The seat looks perfect for this application and I looking forward to putting on this weekend.

I also just ordered a chromed rear grab bar from wholesale to replace the rack that is on the back end now. I will post pics of that as well once it arrives. (hopefully this week)

DAN-O!! I'll sell it to you cheap. This will only be a cruiser so I dont plan on getting too loaded down with gear.

PM me- we can work something out if you are really interested.

I agree on cleaning the back end up (I want to see more rear fender) and i will more than likely use the grab bar when moving the bike around in the garage...lol
