*UPDATE AT THE BOTTOM OF PAGE POST #17*

So I bought this bottom end for 10 bucks about a month or so ago and haven't really worked on it. I can't get the clutch nut off no matter what I try!

Is there anyway to get that thing off without a clutch nut tool?

Also, what brand is the manual clutch it came with? I think its a TB but am not completely sure. Some pics:

Any help is much appreciated!

Get the clutch nut tool! If you're into building engines, it will be invaluable to you. You'll need it anyway in order to get the nut back on to the correct torque. Also, get a strap wrench to keep the clutch basket from rotating.

You can always improvise, but with it comes the risk of doing more damage to the motor.

looks to be a brand x clutch

I checked out the brand x clutch on ebay and it does look pretty much the same.

Also, today I noticed there are some engraved or marks punched into the clutch hub or basket. Same spot as a fews posts above where the TB marks are.

*UPDATE*

I think I have a china bottom end. For one, the cases are painted and my stock 00 xr50 cases are not.

The top (and bottom) two studs center to center measure: 52mm

The studs diagonal center to center measure: 68mm

The "opening" where the cases meet measures: 56mm

The small end of the crank where the wrist pin goes measures: 12mm
