Alright... great feed back on the age thing. Here's a new poll. I want to hear what you guys are thinking about the next topic.

For one-- I think we can all agree that what it is that we are doing will be around awhile. Even if it only exists in our backyards. So the new question is: What would you guys and gals like to see in the near future regarding the equipment that we are running? What direction should we be heading in, in order to allow for growth in the "sport"?-- across the board?

I'll start. As far as the equipment goes-- a few things. I'd like to see the China manufacturers put out specific engine configurations to standardize the racing classes' engine displacements. Define the racing classes by engine displacement as opposed to wheel size.

Another thing that I think would be a fantastic idea-- would be to let two stroke 65 race bikes into Midsize Open, and Vet classes. In M-Open, it would provide a way to be competitive on a $1000- $2500 race bike. In Vet-- a guy who has a kid that races a 65, could get a set of fork legs with stiff springs, and a resprung rear shock-- switch the two out, and race the kids' bike without having to build a $5000 mini to ride and race. I personally am planning a KX65 build in the very near future.

Some guys want to build a bike-- they enjoy it. Personally-- I hate the builds, I just want to buy a bike that has the factory fit, that I can simply walk right in to the local dealer and order all the parts that I need. I just wanna ride it. I get sick of mechanical failures on my 110's, and having to deal with 20 different vendors when I need a part. I also am very particular about the way parts fit. Very rarely have I EVER put an aftermarket part on my 110, and not have some sort of issue with it. Like the play in my Works Shock at the top mount for example. I'll still ride my 110's where noise is an issue. The afore mentioned issues are the reason that I'm working with a KLX140. It comes equipped with most of what we need to race it-- stock!

As far as the events go-- at least here in Ohio, the events go pretty smoothly. I'd like to see the local sanctioning big bike body, have a pit bike class at their events. It would give the "sport" way more exposure than having pit bike only events. Instead of a "Pit bike National" It would be a "Pit Bike Local" race. If a track has a sweet Pee Wee track-- why in the heck not let Pit bikes run too? Everythings' already in place to have the race. It makes more sense than events where the only reason for being there is for the pit bikes. That way-- if you were racing your big bike-- you could bring along your pit bike too. I'd bet the the turnouts would be bigger on both ends. The turnout at any given event, is the way to guage growth or decline in a particular region.

Let's hear your ideas. I now know that we have an @$$load of Fat Boys and Vets paying attention on here. I already know I'm going to get eaten alive over the two stroke thing. --L*64

I would like to see some of the backyard scene come back. But this time with 110s, and not just 50s, I think the backyard scene is still here, but its out of the picture. But it will be here after the whole mainstream pitbike racing is gone. Don't get me wrong, the big name pitbike races and all are tight, but its so competitive. Long live the stockers. And at big events, I think there should be stock classes for klx/drz 110s ONLY and ttr90s and such, get the x4's out of the stock midsized class, its a bunch of **** that they are in the stock class. Rant over, thank you!

A $3500 124+R is gonna own a GPX125 regardless of the $$ thrown at it.

Two strokes killed off the 4 stroke minis in racing over 30 years ago, no sense letting them in to do it again. Apples and aardvarks. A KX65 is a race machine, a KLX110 is a turd. Gold plate it, inlay diamonds, shine it till your hearts content, and it's still a turd. Keep them on the punchbowl and outta the fast lane.

I knew this was coming... The problem that I have with the KLX-- is that it was never intended to do what we're doing with it. Mine is about bone stock, at least motorwise-- and the thing still regularly has issues. Not only that-- but it's not competitive power wise with anything. At least not with the crew that I race with. I don't really take racing mini's seriously, so with me-- it's a reliability issue more than anything. Not only that, but two strokes are sooo cheap to keep up with, and I can work on it myself. When you eat steak, you cut it with a steak knife, not a butter knife. When you're racing bikes, it makes sense to run a racing bike, as opposed to a trail bike. If the $ was the same, I'd take a built 143 to a KX65 motor. The torque of the 4 stroke works better for an adult than the power of a 2 stroke.

I'd like to see stock mean stock in the stock class-- not a 160 big bore. To me-- it makes sense to oversee the engine displacement rather than to define racing classes by wheel size. L*64

1. I wanna see Kitaco make a 4 valve 190cc liquid cooled...I may be exagerating with the 4-valve and engine size but I wanna see liquid cooled engines...Dont care how many CCs.

2. I wanna see some mini endurocross

3. Make a Pitbike class for Loretta Lynns and other nationals.

Why not put a 150R motor into a 110? Better tranny and it would be much cheaper. Is it likely to happen - not really. Could be done with the right person.

I'm going to assume you've never done an endurocross. Would you switch logs out for twigs? Scraper tires for compact car tires? Large rock sections for pebbles?

It would be the guy who's the strongest to lift their bike over every obstacle, who would win.

Ground clearance would be a major problem. It's good to see mini's out doing what the big bikes do but, this sport isn't really where they are going to shine.

Do they have a pit bike class at any hare scrambles? The local HS race here would be completely brutal for a 50/110.

Okay okay you win:roll:...But you forgot watercrossings into inflatable baby swimming pools..

"my bbr195 will smoke a kx65 you just needa mini rider that can ride it as hard as me and is light that is the only difference. try to find a 65 of any kind to make 23-25 hp"

I agree on everything you're saying. The thing is that I want to get a stock KX65 for $1000, drop in some fork springs for a hundred bucks, then get a shock spring made for a hundred bucks, and call it a $1200 build. The 65 will get smoked by the 195, but it will do alot better than my stock motored 110 would, and at a very small fraction of the price, and pain in the neck.

A 65 is a way to get a reliable bike that runs fairly strong for dirt cheap. --L*64

I like the 65 2 smoker for sure. give options for people. you can pick them up cheap. heck maybe run there own class, or open midsize. the fast guys in Ohio will just get one too and still be fast, so this is no answere to win aginst them. just another option in bikes..

ride days, big plus, I love to race but you pay the same on ride days and ride way longer than race days.

If I ever get my track done, I have a new race format that would be great. just will take a bit of work and time..would take the fast guy and slow guys and bunch them up at the end of the race, so the runaway rides shouldnt happen as easy..

we have a "stock 12 class " for imports and 110s

you can mod some stuff like suspension ,but no heads

this way you can buy a pitster ,ogm ,thumpstar and just go race

i think this type of class could be used in 10" to

you can get an x2 or B2 and just show up ,race have fun

No, it's the bikes too. The absurd notion that an engine has to be horizontal and the frame not have a cradle is screwing things up, and alienating potential entrants to the "sport". An XR75 (the ORIGINAL pit racer) isn't welcomed, but a $10K BBR perimeter DOHC is? WTF:rolleyes: No reason a KX65 chassis with a tricked XR100 shouldn't be allowed to run.

No, because imports kill it, sorry, but a 111cc 3 speed semi automatic, does not stand up to a 140cc-160cc 4 speed manual clutch..

Put the import bikes in the mod class, I currently refuse to race e-town because they allow x4, OGM, thump, style bikes to run the stock class, I know they are stock, and maybe thats the direction the classes are going, but I will stay rocking my REAL stock class bike..

Pretty good so far! Who in the heck decided to classify the bikes by wheel size rather than engine displacement? I'm a Vet-- so all the rules go out the window for us. It's actually the most "grass roots" class we have besides stock. The problem is that stock seems to not mean stock motor.

What about the 65 in Midsize Open? I just want to run it in Vet, but I do know a guy who's salivating to run one in MO... Imagine the 65 with the ported 85cc big bore kit and a pipe! ----L*64

#25 ·
ya i dont like the classes either. deff. need some displacement rule AND Wheel size rules that go hand in hand.

50cc 4 stroke. any mods as long as it stays 50cc. 10inch rear max. 12 inch front max.

that would be a nice class.

others class would be 125cc limit and a 126-2??cc class for the big motors

i'm thinking 3/4 classes for each wheel size

50cc 10e

125cc 10e

150cc 10e

151-2??cc 10e

110cc 12e

150cc 12e

151cc-2?? 12e

i thinks its funny reading what ppl are doing for "vegas stock" bikes. stroker cranks as long as ur modding the stock crank etc. thats just making it a mod class. displacement is the best way to manage the classes. "no replacement for displacement"

to really piss ppl off you can through in a price limit on the bikes and have a claim rule.

This is the what everyone needs to do

The last thing we need to do is add classes or tighten up the rules if anything we need to loosen up the rules to get more people involved. This is what happened with the Lube races the people in charge made it clear that that China bikes were not welcome in the vet class by changing rules now they only get three or four bikes. Most or us in these classes are just doing this for fun and dont care about this finnish order. My .02
