black will be better than the white fenders now. looks good with the black though.

Why not do this...paint the fenders black (Kyrlon Fusion spray paint for plastic) and go from there. It won't cost more than a can of spray paint. i doubt you'd go back to white fenders now. Chrome fenders, as you know, are somewhat costly.

And.....she's alive!!

I'll probably need to get another manifold since the crappy aluminum one was super hard to tig weld. We had to Hondabond a little of it just to make sure it was completely sealed. I also need to clean up the wiring, get a longer fuel line, and pick up my clutch cable from Brad.

Everything didn't go as expected though. After idling for 15-30secs, the rectifier started to smoke. Switched the wires coming out of the stator and the same result. We pulled the rectifier off and the bottom part that touches the frame was too hot to hold. It burned the paint on the frame. Anyone know why it got so hot? Its a 12v rectifier that I got off fleabay.

So I picked up the needed items to finish her up this morning. Went to start her up but nothing came on when I turned the key into the 'on' position. Spent and 1.5hrs trying to trace the problem. I started to get frustrated and decided to see if the battery was working so I got a piece of wire and brushed the two terminals together to see if there was power and.....nothing. Whew. Put the battery on the tender and after 15min she fired right up!

So I figured out my rectifier problem. Apparently the fleabay seller sent me a 6v one. Borrowed a known working 12v on from Brad and bingo, overheating problem is gone.

Now I need to dial in the jetting and then its party time :p

Congrats Pete, Glad that I had the spare and that your assumption about it being a bunk or 6 volt rectifier was correct. Better then having to trace down a mystery wiring issue.

Looking forward to seeing your panda in person sometime.

Glad to hear you got it all worked out Pete. Now let's see sum pics!
Your wish is my command :p

Here's some crappy pics (better ones tomorrow). I'm waiting for a new clutch cable since the one I just got was a tiny bit short. I'm currently using a spare modified YSR cable. The throttle cable is the stock Panda one.The manifold also needs to be redone since the crappy aluminum Lifan one was near impossible to weld.

The kickstarter has about 2-3mm of clearance from the pipe but the kickstand is resting on the pipe when in the up position.

Rode it around the block a few time and man, what a difference. It can keep up with traffic no problem.

Thanks for the comments guys.

I have a slight oil leak from one of the bolts on the bottom of the motor (bolt next to the drail plug). It looks like the washer isn't sealing the hole. Going to drain the oil this weekend and add some liquid gasket on it. Also, the battery need to be exchanged since it doesn't seem to be hold a charge.

Jetting seems to be pretty close out of the box. It does backfire a bit on decel so I'm going to try some larger jets. But other than that, the bike runs strong. Going to do a speed test this weekend.

Took some time tonight to chop the front and rear fenders. Took about 1.5in off the back of the front fender so it doesn't rub on the head. The back got chopped about 3in. Should be painting them black tomorrow.

Pete, I'm trying to figure out what I need to order for the 12v conversion. Did you use your stock jincheng harness or replace it with a different one entirely?

Also do you know what this is? The black wire on top goes to the spark plug.

Edit: nevermind, I figured it out somewhat. Just need to figure out the wires to the stator and how to tie in the gpx coil into the jincheng harness here.

Finished cutting and painting the fenders. Used a Krylon outdoor paint and it lays super smooth (we'll see how long it lasts). While I was at it, I decided to dye the seat black so it blends better with the bike.
