Look for the version with screw-in valve cover caps like a 50 if you plan mods.

Im not all that familiar w/ the motors. Have a pic of this cover w/ screws, to illustrate? .........So that I know what to look for

<edit> is this the type you were referring to?

eBay Motors: 200CC LIFAN 5 SPD ENGINE MOTOR MOTORCYCLE DIRT BIKE ATV (item 150246502782 end time May-18-08 22:25:08 PDT)

btw, anybody know if there is interference with the intake and carb with the YSR frame?

Make sure you dont get the push rod version, thats what he has. You want a cam chain version instead.

how can you tell a push rod vs cam chain version?....again, so I know what to look for.

ps, I didn't see it spec'd within the info whether the motor is push or chain.

that would be...... uh..... a sweet vtwin......

There are more china knock offs that honda push rod motors.

Heres a quote from firepower for some info....

"The fry pan head cover is a dead give-away it's a pushrod version. The OHC models have screw-in caps like a 50 or your 100. The XR100 isn't a direct bolt in, and is inferior in power to a modded 125/175/200. The head is awful and was designed around a 75cc rig. Sure, there's lots for it, but it's just polishing a turd. Better off looking for a bigger engine to start with. Don't get me wrong, I love the XR75/80/100 and have several, but they aren't going to push a midsize bike very fast."

I know mine is the pushrod version I just don't really care that much :) I don't plan to do any mods to the engine at all. I just got back from fresno where I gave my bike to the muffler shop to make an exhaust system that will run under the engine between the fairing and pop out right before the wheel at a slight angle as to not drag on the ground... Should be a blast!!! I will get some pics when done

Guys,

Thanks for all the input! I truly appreciate it. I had done some digging too. And am leaning towards the Hooper Imports Lifan 200cc OHC motor. Tbh, I'd rather have a true Honda motor, but they are hard to find, and or reasonably priced.

Being that there seem to be a lot of peeps going w/ the big 4-stroke motors, what can I expect in regards to vibration? Or what have some of you done to reduce or minimize vibration, if any?

What other mounting points did you use, other than front and rear upper?

My XR200 in the YSR is all rigid, Vibration isnt bad at all. Wait for a honda motor, you will be MUCH happier! My next project will be a YSR or NSR/F with a YZ250F swap that will be rubber mounted. As far as mounting the motor...... theres no kit/directions, kinda have to just make it happen.

Btw, are the 150 & 200 motors share common mounting points?

If so, can you guys share with me your mounting point info.....

length of rear bracket (YSR chassis hole to upper/rear motor hole)

and forward mounting position.

Also, I understand the 150cc uses a 426 chain vs the 200cc a 428. Should I at all be concerned with any chain interference, if I were to go with a 200cc?

Like i said mounting is on your own, i could probly tell you exactly how to do it and im sure it wouldnt be the same for you (IE, year of the motor, what size motor).

The XR200 runs a 520 chain. Its pretty big. the good: you will never brake a chain. the bad: no one makes a front sprocket in a smaller chain size. (i know sprocket specialsts can make you anything, well just about anything). i can get any size rear all day but front is any size in 520.

I will still be entertained with the dimensions you give me (as a reference and or comparison). At the least, gives me some what of a base point to work with.

fook me.....a 520 chain?!?! holy crap! how'd you get a sprocket to fit the NSR hub and chain fit?

On a side note..... I know a local guy with a Yami 250f in his YSR (also with NSR wheels) that I plan to inquire with.

Maybe I should concider the 150cc motor instead (lol). Even at 13hp, the torque will play a huge role.......great acceleration and hill climb for elevation changes. I am sure the overall power too vs a 50cc motor (air or w/c). Altho' it would be nice to know what kind of top speed to expect, with the right sprocket combo.

In truth, I'd be content with a top speed of 75mph, thus a very comfortable cruising speed at 60/65 mph w/ commute traffic on the expressways and or highways I ride.

I wanted to post a few pics from last weekend. These are from my brothers camera phone... Yes I HATE CAMERA PHONES but I didnt want to dig out my camera while I was all greasy and such. These are not the pictures requested by people just the ones from the first initial build before the first shakedown... The Fairings and such are at the motorcycle junkyard. I had been up for 40 hours straight at the moment so if I look anemic its because at that point I actually am!!!

Cell phone pic again too!!! :) when im done I will take some real pictures of it and some real video too. Hopefully with some police footage too... ITs always more fun that way...

These were on another post earlier but I will add them for comedic relief.

Manimal, you actually take your YSR on the freeway?

No, I do not ride on the freeway. In CA, we have Freeways, Highways and Expressways. Per the CA DMV and CVC, there is a cc limit law.

Anything under 175cc is highway (most), expressway and public road legal.

175cc+ is freeway legal.

Therfore, I only ride within those areas within the law. Besides, even if my YSR was registered to anything over 175cc, it would be suicidal to ride CA freeways *crazy eyes*
