hi im looking to make my xr50 street legal. and was wounderin which motor would be better for street riding and which one would be more powerfull.

Remember, there may be pipe and intake issues with the YX/GPX engines and unless you plan to mod it the Lifan 150 is stronger, plus the narrower clutch cover.

If you are going to be modding the motor, a mikuni vm26 works great(28 works also, but IMO the 26 is easier to tune for the streats), usually for sale on here. Try the gpx motor stock, before you start modding, it may be good for you app. Make sure the motor you get doest not have a inner rotor kit(no lighting coil). post pics when you are done.

Might as well gain the 4mm stroke the 160 offers.
I'm not feeling the love for the S-cut, though. The piston won't/can't last as long as a skirted type. You still have to open up the cases, so a sleeve isn't a big deal. BBR jug will take a 65.5mm with plenty of sleeve integrity left.

It's gonna freakin rip. For a while. Once the short skirt that's dropping well out of the bore gets a little wear and starts letting the piston rock and ruins the ring seal, it's gonna get soft.

Replace the piston, often.
192cc on a GPX160, using a BBR 160 jug bored for a 65.5mm Akunar. Plenty of sleeve thickness, reasonable skirt length. There might even be one for sale in the classifieds

As for power, the 201cc of the S-cut on a GPX160 would be tough to beat, but pulling that micro-mini skirt piston 5-6mm out of the bottom of the jug can't be good for longevity.
