i have a 143se ported,28 mm pwk, pancake air filter, kitaco coil running pump gas...in south jersey at about sea level with temp in mid to high 50's ....i started off with a 110 main,42 pilot and air screw 1 turn out......

i started it up ...let it warm up....cruised around the yard a little bit....when decelerating and then rolling on the throttle exiting a turn it was wanting to stall...and it also has a big bog right off idle when blipping the throttle....and it also idles a little high for a couple seconds then would drop down to a normal idle each time you rev the bike.... i went both ways on the airscrew...as much as 3 turns out with no improvement ....any suggestions on where to go with the jetting?

anyone?...i know jetting questions are painfully redundant but i tried the search option first and read probably 500 posts and couldnt find where a problem like mine was addressed...

i wouldnt think it would be a main jet since its right off idle...but if 3 turns on the airscrew makes no difference i wouldnt think it would be the pilot jet...and the top brass fitting is pluged so its not that..... since i have the pancake filter do i need to go from a 42 to like a 50 pilot ?

sounds like to much air not enouph fuel

you could try changing the needle and if that doesent work then try a pilot jet .

you might want to make sure you dont have an air leak somewhere that could cause a lean condition as well

of idle is usaly needle and pilot i think

I had the same problem and it turned out to be my fuel line comming from the gas tank to the carbuerator was letting air get in. There was no leaking fuel so I didn't even consider this as a possible place for an air leak. Checked everything 10 times or more still had the problem. Changed the fuel line and clamps - bingo!

Raise the needle to the 5th clip. and GET RID OF THAT PANCAKE filter.

If your bog doesn't go away, no matter what pilot or needle you use, you may need a different carb.

It seems like 1 in 5 of those carbs that came from Kitaco had a bad casting.

UNI makes a pod filter that is 4 inches long and has a angled boot so it doesn't hit the fender. I use them all the time.
