just thought i'd give you guys a heads up on the bar/clamp kit pro taper sells for the KLX/DRZ 110's at $259.99. First off the people i dealt with through pro taper displayed some of the worst customer service i have ever seen. Secondly the kit they sent me was missing the brake cable, throttle cable, kill switch, brake lever, carb cap, and throttle tube. Pro taper says the kit ( part # 02-2846) is not supposed to include any of those items, the only thing it comes with should be the clamp, risers, bars, and half waffle grips. Those things i did get. EVERY ad i have seen for this set-up shows pictures or includes descriptions of the kit containing the 9 items i listed, hell its even printed on the side of the box that my kit came in that it includes evrything. Pro Taper's Rep. told me that EVERYTHING was a misprint and they sent notes of this problem to all of their distributors. They obviously forgot to send one to the shop i bought mine through, go figure. I find it very hard to believe that they accidently printed everything incorrectly...but if they did i could understand why it would be near impossible for them to get all the catalogs back after already being sent out, that is understanable. BUT why have they made absolutely NO EFFORT to clear up this problem on their website which would take like 5 minuets and next to no effort at all? And to top all of my problems off, during the install when i tightened the clamps down using their torque specs, 2 out of the 4 bolts snaped right off:mad:, so now i get to drill them out and tap a new hole.......THANK YOU PRO TAPER.

just a warning to anyone looking at buying this kit, your in for alot of headaches and frustration!

I wish i would have went with my original choice of the BBR kit, my buddy got it and has had not one problem!

BUYER BEWARE, PRO TAPER IS INTERESTED IN THE SALE ONLY!!!!

Never really liked pro taper, I'd much rather go with Renthal or Universal. Never had a problem with either of their customer service.

And about the bolts that snapped, don't dill them out and retap the hole, can't you get an easy-out on the bolt and get them out that way so you will only have to replace the bolts?

The klx kit doesn't come with any of the additional stuff the crf50 kit does.

thats what their Rep. told me after like an hour of arguing with him......still dosnt change the fact that they have it advertised to include everything, the worst part is it is printed right on the side of my box!

Outa curiousity what are the torque specs on those side pinch bolts that you broke?

the directions said "mount to a torque spec of 400 in/lbs OR 33ft/lbs"

ohhh by the way i didnt break the fork tube clamp bolts the ones that broke were the 8mm bar clamp bolts

you could sue for false advertisement you know... just print the ad with the date and take it to your lawyer

spend $800 on a product misprinted with $100 worth of merchandise. Good call.

Sue-happy people are the downfall of this country and part of the reason track fees are so high, and the good products for your bike are so high. If companies didnt have to spend big bucks on liability insurance then they could reduce the price of their goods. Worrying about someone breaking a part and getting hurt is one thing... worried about a typo is rediculous. If its such a big deal, the place you bought it can offer you your money back and you buy another one that does not have a mismarked package.

Too much of a big deal made out of something small.

i dont know i would have been pissed also.

I would have tried to return it to the store you bought it from but F it now. i hate bad customer service also who do those jerks on the phone think they are. i did customer service for 4 yrs and i always tried to help my customers even if they were pricks

well ive never ordered from Pro taper directly i love there bars i have them on my big bike and my 110. renthal sucks they allways bend gone through many pairs just from little tip overs ive never bent anything on my pro tapers

I love my pro taper bar/clamp kit. I've had it on the bike for over 6months and I like it better than other set ups I have tried.

I will say that I was also very disappointed that not all the items advertised actually come in the kit. Sent the first one back only to get the replacement w/same issue. Finally a rep figured out that the 110 kit only comes with clamp, risers, bars, grips. Even the box said it comes w/more.

well said, sue happy people, to me are like the scum of the earth. coincidence? I think not.

This guy is just trying to give the rest of us a heads up by stating what happened to him. Everyone can form their own opinionfrom there. No need to belittle just because you don't agree with his problem or feel it is not that big of a problem. He did not ask for opinions, or advice for that matter, from what I read, just simply stated what happened. More people should do this so we as a group know what is happening out there and buy accordingly. It would be like corporate survival of the fittest. Too many people like to post just to post. What if everybody started picking apart grammar, or spelling, or sentence structure? That would be a waste of time for everyone reading. Their point is made when someone posts a statement. Read and move on. Not everything is a debate.

holy cow already!

Thanks for the info about this Pro taper deal.

p.s.

Unnecessary litigation is a huge problem in the U.S.A. Like E said It only makes things more costly

love my Pro Tapers. Shouldnt you be more mad at the shop that sold it too you and apparently wont refund you?

i did take them back......but the shop told me that there must have been a mistake made by pro taper and they would just go ahead and order me a new kit ( i must say there in lies the problem when the shop is even under the impression that it was pro tapper's mistake, that would probably be because the lack of communication between pro taper and their distributors informing them of this problem......that is what i would call BAD BUSSINESS) any way the shop told me to just go ahead and keep everything in the kit i had and when the replacement kit comes in they will just give me whatever parts out of the new kit that i was missing out of mine. well 3 days later it came in and AGAIN the same problem with it, but by that time i had already mounted everything up and made do with stock cables and such because i expected to get the rest of my missing parts and go ahead and put them on when they came in.......but that never happened. The shop said they couldnt return my stuff cuz it was already mounted up and there were scuffs on it. The guys at the shop are good guys, i dont feel that they would try to dick me over on purpose. I dont feel it is right for the shop to have to eat a return on something that was falsely advertised. it wasnt their fault either, they have been on my side the whole time and have been trying to get pro taper to step up and make it right with their customer.

im not going to sue anyone over the whole deal....but what i am going to do is make it known to everyone that pro taper is not concerned with the way they treat customers, distibutors, or anyone else for that matter.
