Well, if you guys are sick of hearing aout this project, I am twice as sick of working on it….
I decided to get it finished, and all my crazy mods caught up to me… I had to spend more hours than I care to admit working out the bugs, alignment, brackets, spacers, etc.
Then I continued to make changes along the way, because I am an idiot….
So I had it all done with the “bad boy tank/seat etc. and was not happy with the results. I had planned on selling this bike, so it should not have mattered…. Then I decided I spent way to long on the bike to not be happy/and do the things I wanted…… So I started over..
I wanted it to loom like a ZB, so I started cutting the ridiculous amount of brackets and extra frame junk on the bad boy, You would laugh at the pile of frame pieces, brackets etc I removed… It’s hard to believe, but even with all of the cutting, there is still more
Braces, brackets etc, than a stock zb.
Then I had to adapt the skyteam tank and the ZB seat to the frame which is significantly different than the the zb,. The tanks mounts, and especially the seat mounting rails are in a completely different angle. I had to remove the zb tool box (no biggie) and then spent two days cutting/fabricating and adapting the damn seat/tank.
I was very please with the results and the seat/tank fit is very snug… The seat mounts super securely and is supported all the way. Tanks mounts in the stock badboy locations , and took a significant amount of jacking with the “tabs.” It was classic BS, tank mounts great- seat won’t align… repeat…
Then the wiring….. I did not have a diagram, and never checked out the electrical components when I when I bought it.(battery was dead).
So wiring from scratch and with a different motor took some time. I have never had a street legal mini, and for some reason I became fascinated with playing with the turn signals, lights/brights etc… Lol It still hasn’t got old!
So here is the current list of stuff I did..
Moding frame to fit (new) skyteam tank and (used) zb50 seat.
Installed /custom mounted license frame with built in turn signals (Led hidden in the plate). Looks real clean! ($20 from cyclegear)..
Custom led taillight mounted flush in rear of seat. Led is so damn bright, looks killer…(I think I bought it at pepboys ad it was for a trailer).
Installed LED combo license plate bolts with built in lights. $15 bucks from auto store)
Led front signals (from cyclegear)- Everything blinks/works fine and I didn’t need any special “led relays/flashers etc.
Posh “knock off” master/clutch (very nice/impressed with the fit and finish)
I did have to cut/sand and grind the stock” clamshells,” because of the built in clutch perch and throttle assembly.
I mounted the bad boy gauge assembly and everything works but the speedo )which I was planning to replace with a koso that fits the stock mount). I did get the gauge lights working, and all the lights/brights/horn etc…..So upgrading will be a snap.
Installed an nsr50/Nissin rear brake set up ((including rotor) adapted to the big rims : )
Nsr swingarm and (thank God for Brad/Dan got the “offset shock mount kit.” That saved me another fun fabbing job….
Headlight is a painted Bad boy (which I was planning on replacing with some aftermarket mounts and “Monkey R” headlight (have the case/need the light).
Gpx engine/poilished case/oil cooler/dress up stuff/catch can etc (Oil cooler is waiting for some test run before I fabricate the mounts (temp mounts are on now). There was NO place I could fit it other than there…
I am just waiting on a few parts I ordered (cables/manifold for 26mm carb, and stator)
Ok I am tired of typing….
