R stage is really similar to a trail bikes or bbr super pro head 25/22 valves and standard configuration takes regular engine covers. +r I think you are reffering to the +D which is an r stage with a decompression cam. Old super head has 27/23 valves and regualr rockers and you must use super head engine covers (oil cooler plate and cam cover and also has bolt on valve covers), super head +r I am not sure what size valves it has but is more or less the same as a super head except it uses roller rocker arms.
