it eliminates the bogging on the bottom, dont bother testing it on a dyno, the stock flywheel will out perform the shaved...on a dyno there no load on the rear wheel like in dirt...and the stock flywheel will store more energy (cuz of its mass) and release it at the end of the power...so it will show that it works better, that is true for street use...but in dirt with all that load on the rear wheel the shaved flywheel or inner rotor will let the bike rev faster...so it will pull and not get bogged down.

Huh? Thats completely false.

any pics of where to remove the 8 oz.?
usually the most is shaved off the face of the flywheel. You can also shve down the side, but leave some room for your "top dead" marks and dont shave on the pickup for the CDI.

it looks heavy in the picture! by the sounds of it, it would be a good idea to shave some weight off. i will give this a try. good thing im in the mechanics buisness, got me some hook-ups with machine shops

You DO NOT want to take off more than 8oz ( 4oz up to 8oz ) Flywheels have been known to EXPLODE you should know that being in the mechanics bizz........

I think what Brady is means by load , is a horizontal load on the knobbies in the dirt .... not the vertical load of applied by weight , so I think actually your both right ....

I think he means that dirt gets inside the knobs while on the dyno the tops of the knobs are the only part that touches.

Either way, it is not a good idea to run an mx tire on a dyno. A few reasons: it will tear up the tire pretty bad, when you hit it and when you let off the tire will try to get the bike to hop, the chart will not be very smooth, etc..

By the way, my motard tire is supposed to be here this week so hopefully I can get a dyno chart for the 124 up soon.

There is no set depth. you take material off till its where you want it . between 4oz and 8oz ONLY. I wasnt kidding when I said that Flywheels EXPLODE. too much material removed and they will come apart... :!: Picture it spinning at 12000 rpms and pieces of it comming through your thin aluminum cover just like a GRENADE. making your leg look like hamberger or remove those two things between your legs... :(
