I have a TB 108 with a TB HD oil pump and Kitaco oil cooler in my fifty right now. I've been running 92 octane pump gas, but want to get as much out of my motor as possible. Will race gas make much of a difference? Will it create a lot of extra heat? The guys @ my local shop said it would be fine, but I want to know if any of you guys are running 100+ octane and what kind of results you're getting. Thanks!

race gas is fine as long you rejet but there is the misconception about race gas.

most people go out and purchase the highest octane they can, don't do it!!

Find the lowest octane race gas you can.

Octane does not make power, if anything it will take away.

Run the lowest octane you can without causing any detonation in your engine

Oxygenated fuels do make more but at a price.

U4 works great but MR9 is better.

Race fuels burn slower and have a higher flash point ( harder to light ) wich is why they help when you have pre-ignition (a.k.a. detonation) from hot spots in the cylinder lighting the fuel before the spark plug should do it.

So unless you're detonating/pinging, you won't get any more out of using race gas ( unless you want the expensive oxygenated fuels ) to make the most power you want to run the lowest octane ( fastest burning) fuel that you can without pre-ignition/detonation

Race fuels allow you to run higher compression ratios, and more spark advance wich can create more horspower, but untill you bump the CR or find a way to advance the timing to a point where it produces more power the only benefit will be the sweet smell of leaded fuel.

octane does somthing but it just makes your motor run smoother

OK, I'm going to try a sample of it. I called and I know pretty much everybody there so the mechanics offered to hook me up with a 1/2 gallon or so of it and I'll play with the jetting and see what I get. It is oxygenated with 101 octane. They sell this for 4 stroke race fuel, they have 114 octane for the two strokes.
