when you say "tell me what you think," do you really want to know what i think??

Ive got pretty thick skin, so yes, i meant tell me what you think. I didnt build this bike for a retro, resto project. I built it for my 6 year old son so he could ride it. red and black happened to be what he wanted. SO yes please, i would appreciate feedback. thanks to all who have commented

I don't really like the paint colors. You did a nice job. The quality of the paint is good but the colors aren't the best. That exhaust can sticks out way too much and will be toast if you ever mess up on one of those wheelies. I would also have put a Honda engine in. I know that a lot of people would think differently, but I like to upgrade from a Honda base. Also, those tires will get great grip on the road(compared to stock) but they wear out really fast. I had one of them and didn't like the way it wore out so fast so I run the stockers now.

I am currently working on building a Z50R for my now 4 year old son. It is an 88 and pretty ratty at the moment, but it does run and all the parts are there. He either wants it yellow or blue (at least this week) and I am sure his taste in paint jobs is a bit different than mine or the rest of the purists here.

I think my son would fall in love with that bike.

As far as the chinese repro motor, I am also working on a trx70 for my son. It is cherry at the moment, but this winter it is going to get a 50cc, electric start, lifan, even though the stock honda is low miles and in perfect shape.

Two reasons.

One, He is going to learn how to ride on it so if he screws up the motor or tranny, I will still have to good Honda base for when he gets a bit bigger.

Second, he is not strong enough to pull start it, so the electric start will get him riding sooner :)

Good save on yours.

the paint job looks as though you spent some time on it, its a shame you didnt bondo that dent in the tank though. Im sure your kid loves it! I fixed up a pull start bike for my 8 year old, with piss can black and a Skin iron cross on the tank, he put the finishing touch, a scooby-doo license plate on the back fender and thought it was the coolest motorcycle in the shed!
