I am going to convert my 125x into a x2r starting this coming Monday. Using the 125x forks and everything else. Has anyone done this before? I am getting the new cradle mount frame with the aluminum removable subframe as well as the new mono swinger and the rear shock. I will try to take pics but no promises.

i'm building one... if I were you i would just start over... keep the motor/exhaust/brakes and build up the rest... the 125x forks are kinda crappy, throw some ssr forks or fastace forks on there instead... and I think your gonna need a new peg mount too to fit in the cradle frame

Say What ,,,,,

The 125x Forks Are Actual Motorcycle Forks

Not Bicycle Parts

The Fast Ace Have Been Bashed Here By Soooooooo Many !!

We Here The Valving Has Been Changed On The Latest Version

Don You Need A Longer Steering Stem ,,,i Think J Staggs Has Them

I've ridden the 125x forks and their not very good.. the fastace forks are the same as the staggs sx pros which you sell right?
wrong answer

in your opion the pitster forks as so so ,but mabey u dont have then set up correctly

were running 15w oil and they work good ,kps has compared the pitster forks to ktm 65 forks

we will value the input from an actual suspension tuner on this one

the first fast ace forks were very stiff ,,,the newer sets are said to have a progressive valving set up

thanks for your input cody

but im just not agreeing with u on this

So will my red baron peg mount not fit on it? I have had my forks re-done by my suspension tech, he went thru and changed all fluids in the forks.

Vince are you sure about the steering stem not fitting as well?

I wanna know the results and hear the progress on this build. I am wondering about doing the same thing and would value the insight by someone doing it. I would like to just change the frame, shock, swingarm is all as I HATE, HATE, HATE the shock and banana crappy ass swingarm. Thanks waffle for doing it. PLEASE take and show pictures as you go along and list what parts you need or don't need.

staggs makes a mono conversion kit for the 125x......you can easily find a different frame that fits too

I know and I am thinking about buying it. The frame on that bike seems fine, I just cannot stand the shock and swingarm. i have been eyeing the staggs mono swingarm for some time now, just need to know what the best shock will be. If it weren't for the rear disk brakes I might have already bought a different frame, shock, swingarm combo. Please help. Thanks. Mat

might wanna make ur decision now..all that stuff is on sale including the shock, im pretty sure once you get the conversion kit you can run any mono style shock, like an elka, rcm phase IV, pitster x2r shock, TCS, staggs shocks..stuff like that

yeah the steering stem will be too short. the pegmount may work with some grinding.

Jerimiah

Thanks for getting back to me. Will I have to grind down the actual footpeg mount?

I was actually saying staggs the fastace forks are good forks, and they were the same as yours.. which if you put the two together I was giving your forks a compliment... and as far as my opnion about the 125x forks, their just an opinion, I havent enjoyed mine and are replacing them...

Ok here are some pics to get started....

Everything went smooth other than getting the motor to bolt in. You have to manhandle the frame and motor for a bit to get it to work. Red baron footpeg mount didn't fit so I used a stock pitster one for now. The HTB 26mm carb kit was a tight squeeze to get it to fit. Other than that everything went smooth. I have a 140 kit coming in the mail from HTB so I am taking my time on it. I will do the front end later tonight or tomorrow night.
