so is a ttr-50 a knock off??? so is a copy of something a knock off? harley is american made and then japan made motorcycles after that if im correct.....and you talk to any mechanic in the right state of mind they would rather work on a yamaha street bike over harley. Is the honda 250f a knock off? its a copy of the yamaha 250f wich came out first??? what about the 450f?? once again yamaha came out with it first......if you put it this way EVERYTHING is a knock off

T-RAV

I know you know what I mean. I dont really call the pro mini a KO. Or the others you mentioned. So maybe 3 out of 100 different pieces of crap are decent bikes. I like the pro mini but that junk that was on Ebay(KLX KO) is a total piece of garbage. Along those lines is what I mean. When some Americans get involved the bikes are pretty good but left entirely to the Chicoms you are buying crap. I know it, we all know it. They can sell all the crap they can but I will call it as I see it. Thats all. I had one once. It broke every time I rode till all that was left of the original bike was the cases and the tank. I knew what I was getting into. Now I have a KLX.

the hondas stock are pretty cheaply made as well, takes thousands in upgrades to get them to keep up with most knockoffs.

how many stock honda frames have broken? i am willy to bet plenty. how many forks have broken or swingers?

just seems like these days you can buy a knockoff that is almost track ready for the price almost of a stock honda.

new honda crf50 up here in canada is like $2200 out the door. thats bonce stock, then you have to buy bars, forks, tires, wheels, swinger, pipe, big bore kit,etc.....

i would rather spend $2600 ona track ready bike. even if it doesn't say honda on the side cover.

To compare an actual Honda to ANY off brand/import bike on the market is ridiculous.

Of coarse a stock Honda CRF50 is going to have parts that fail due to the fact the bike was designed for a 4 year old. These so called "Race ready" bikes are supposed to be designed to put up with an adult rider with an aggressive style and it seems that most of them can not even withstand a 4 year olds beginners riding ability. I wont even get into the facts of the Honda's stock engine reliability VS any of these import machines.

Your KTM argument is 100% irrelevant to this situation. KTM was never a "knock off" it was simply another contender that has started to prove itself as the years began. Its not like KTM was selling there bikes for $3000 cheaper then a Yamaha, Honda, etc. and stating they have the same quality and durability as these brands.

I can go on forever, but your facts just seem ass backwards.

I did want to add one more thing. I do understand that some of these off brand/import bikes are getting better and better by the day. But the number of these bikes that are actually proving themselves is much smaller then the number of bikes failing and that is hurting all of the somewhat creditable Import brands out there.

Imports are a great and affordable way for someone to start and enjoy our sport.

are you kidding me? you really are from the southern U.S

as for the ktm argument, you say they got better as the year went on?

just like the knock offs.

and as for the ttr50, for sure it is a knock off from the honda. not like they slowly turned the pw50 into the ttr. they scrapped it and coppied the honda.

i like the big name brands as much as the next guy, just would spend that kind of cash on a pitbike when you can spend half. it is justa toy after all.

the way the hondas are ridden now with the big bore kits, there is no way the motors will last as long as the old mini trails did or z 50's. little diferent from the camping trips and back yards to the full on sx tracks.

this whole argument will never be won or loss, just ruffles feathers. thats all

haha you think aftermarket and knockoff parts are the same? aftermarket parts are well thought out and desinged upgrades to the stock bike. they dont copy a honda frame exactly paint it a different color and call it "race ready" or "5x stronger" just because it looks cool. no, thats what the knockoff companies do. they copy the true aftermarket, using inferior materials and overall build quality, and then try to market it as an equal of the aftermarket. take a look at ebay and tell me im wrong. and of course their are chinese companies actually trying to put out a good and original product, but they are the exception.

some trivia?

old enough that i raced at loretta lyns when Ezra Lusk was the favorite to win and broke his leg in the first corner.;)

LOL, the reason i ask is cause some of your posts are quite childish i was thinking you were a 17 yr old punk who's daddy bought him his knockoff and now thinks he knows everything

do you guys realize that even some of bbr's stuff is made in china? just because it's made overseas does not mean it's crap, it just means that whoever is making it found a way to save money.

i have a bike built off of an icon 90x (the only actual icon parts left are the rear hub, footpegs, plastics, and seat) with all sano parts and a gpx 131 engine, and i have a pitster pro x2r... the pitster works just as good on the track as my completely built bike, and it was bought for a fraction of what's in my other bike. also, the gpx in my bike hauls, and i've had no problems with it.

you people who sit around bashing chinese bikes need to open your eyes. we aren't in the days of the first extremes or sdg's anymore... there are plenty of good quality knock off's out there.
