I've already done a search and couldn't find what I was looking for but, does anyone have a picture of their Lifan shift star that they have modified to get rid of the 3rd to 2nd shift only to end up in neutral? What is the upgrade for the shift detent arm spring? Does anyone sell a reliable shift star for the Lifan. Could I use a shift star from an XR80 ?

vinco shit star
heres what the star looks like that vinco sent me. I would go throw it on right now, but I don't have a honda clutch spanner. I would just use some vice grips, but I'm afraid of the poor quality of metal. Oh, and mine is an auto, but same pattern. They also sent some instructions on how to bend the last 1/2" of the detent spring as well. Oh, and the instructions I have made no mention of draining the oil first, just laying the bike on its left side, will this work?

The Vinco sourced star is very similar to what I got from SDG, I think the SDG unit has the neutral detent spaced out just a bit more from center, making even more of a pocket for 2nd. I just finished the manic hop up on the Pro Mini, including the shift star, lightened flywheel/oil sling, AHP piston and TB Race head cam, and so far the bike is staying in 2nd reliably. We'll see what happens when I take it to the track after breaking it in.

Ah, nope, I was just comparing the SDG unit to the pic of the Vinco unit above. I'll try to get some abuse in on the Pro Mini to see if the shift star will really make a difference, but I dunno just how much I'll be able to push it in the next couple of weeks.
sorry about the delay guys. i'm waiting on a HD clutch and clutch nut tool from TB. Should figure something out this week. Compared to the stock star, there is a much more generous pocket for 2nd as well. I think bending the end of the detent spring will help as well.
