Hey guys, I got my 7 yr old a ttr50 awhile ago and here recently he is starting to race a dirt flat track oval and mini motard. The bike is stock except the tires. The tires I bought were the only ones that my local shop had at the time. I need to get the bike up to speed to compete.

I have been looking into the GYTR Exhaust, aif filter, and jet kit. This would give him a boost with easy bolt ons. However, I am wondering if anyone has any recommendations to my options.

Of course, I am willing to spend less on something with close/equal performance.

State your mind!

Are big bores allowed in the class? If they are check out the Kitaco 88cc kit along with a 20mm carb.If you want to go all out get the 104SE.Also if your going big bore go with a Ultima or Kitaco pipe over the GYTR pipe.IMO that header is just too small for a big bore machine.

at the elevation i live at, i had a HARD time adjusting the carb with the gytr jet kit, air filter, and stock pipe

The bore size can not change. I am having a hard time finding out what performance parts really give the best improvment. I think the best three upgrades would be what was mentioned above. Then I need to start to worry about making the bike lighter.

try a better pipe, but the jet kit and filter are fine, i had a chm pipe, gytr jet kit, and gytr filter and it gave a little low end and some nice sound lol

Thanks for the replies! I am more looking for more power at the mid to top end as the tracks are pretty fast ones (almost all thrid gear).

Does anyone sell a performance kit that has been proven?

Fast 50's? I think they are on my list of "rip-offs". I will check into it.

Lighten the flywheel: This has crossed my mind. I would like to do this myself but I am unsure. I do not want to shave it as I heard you can only get a few mm's off. In anothers words, not enough for the risk. Could I cut every other fin off? Would I have to worry about a balancing problem?

Classic honda pipe: These are stock pipes for honda I assume? I also assume that I would use the yammy stock header?

Can you provide more information about the the carb and intake kits? Also, the only jetkit I have seen labled for the ttr50 is from GYTR. Is this a limitation?

Thanks so much!

CHPusa.net. Classic Honda is a hop up shop and the official US distributer of Kitaco parts. Their pipe for the TTR is very nice and that is the pipe I was suggesting you use. You can also get the carb and intake kit from them. Visit their website or call and talk to Scott or TJ and they can help you out.

Oh yea, I visited that store a few time while googling.

I see that they have 2 different pipes. I assume you are talking about the new pipe "CHP New Ultima Jr. pipe."?

Anyone have any feedback about the cam? The claim sounds promising!

I am going to order the 20mm Kehien carb, intake, throttle cable, heats stop and gasket set with the CHP New Ultima Jr. pipe. Any suggestions about my current cart?

That still leaves me with a jet kit, filter. So far GYTR is the only ones on the list. Any other options that have been proven?

The jet kit and filter are for the stock yamaha carb so you don't need them. Order an assortment of jets for the Kehin 20mm from CHP and get a filter from them for that carb as well and you should be set. You will possibly need a different throttle so you may order the Kitaco throttle set.

Does anyone make a hi-compression piston kit for the ttr?I think if anyone would it would be powroll.I would try a Hi-compression piston(if available),inner rotor kit,18 mm carb, and the untima Jr pipe.

Well patience got the best of me as I purchased a GYTR exhaust from a local dealer. I wanted to hear my son so I can hear what rpms he is in yesterday.

CHPusa.net: I wish they had an automated ordering system. I always miss them on the phone. I am not to fond to fax all my credit card information in.

So now, does the same list apply with the GYTR exhaust? Should I go ahead and order the preffered list from CHPUSA (if I can ever catch them) and sell off the GYTR?

geeh, I need to learn how to be patient! :)

from one flat tracker to another

my son also races flat track....an important thing to remember is gearing (sprockets) to often its overlooked, try TBR they have a few and there aluminum which helps to cut down the weight. The TTR is heavier then your Hondas by almost 15 pounds so cutting down the weight is important. Always have different sizes on hand for different tracks. We found this to be a huge difference for us without doing alot of mods.

Dont be fooled into thinking that people havent modified there engines. Some of these bikes are running cams and other mods that they arent mentioning. I find this at a few of the tracks my son races at. It all depends if you really care or not.
