I have a 2006 Staggs Sx50f completely stock gearing and chain roller. I noticed that the chain is rubbing on the bottom side of the swing arm. It is starting to wear a groove. Bike has one ride on it. Anyone else had this problem? I was thinking that the there may be to much spring tension on the roller forcing the chain to rub against the swingarm. There is no rub plate on the bottom of the swinger. The top has a nylon plate that the chain slides on but nothing on the bottom. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

hold the spring off the chain with your hand....how much tension/give is there in the chain?

I think your chain is too loose.

Thanks Matt,

I was thinking that it may have been from the chain stretching from being broken in after I wrote the thread. It seemed fine when I intially installed the roller. I spent allot of time cleaning caked on mud after the long awaited maiden voyage. Great Bike!! I will adjust it tonight.

Mine does the same thing when the chain stretches.I am constantly adjusting the chain.I need to buy a EK Gold chain so it doesn't stretch as bad.I am also going to buy another nylon gaurd and tap holes under the swinger to protect it.A buddy of mine bought a piece of thick plastic from a machine shop and Gorilla glued it to the bottom of the swinger. It seems to work well.
