As the title says, I’m about to buy an elka for the rear. Stock Swingarm length. Heavily debating between the stage 2 vs stage 3/4. Anyone ridden both? Is the external reservoir and tunability worth the extra $300? Bike will be a plated 110 that will likely see a ton of trails, jumps, and drainage ditches. Just a hooligan bike for tearing up back streets etc. But it will definitely be put to use. Is the upgrade worth it for the stage 3/4 elka? Also which one is the preferred one for the stock swingarm?

I think what it comes down to is questioning if you are knowledgeable and good enough at riding to absorb the extra costs for the benefits?
I have a racetech shock on my 110 that I sent to them for a rebuild a few years ago for my weight / bike / riding style. I have never once messed with the adjustable portions of the shock. Could it be improved? More than likely. Does it work comfortably for my riding style? Yes.

I can definitely ride a bike. Been riding for about 20 years now. I wish I could find a racetech or something like that but they don’t seem to sell them anymore. The only shocks in finding currently still sold are the dnm, pro wheel, and elka’s. Just wasn’t sure if the extra adjustability would be worth it for streets, trails, neighborhood jumps, etc. It will be plated and mostly for riding with the grom group. I do think I’ll always wonder if I don’t get the stage 4, so I’ve almost just settled on that. Unless someone knows where to get a race tech still?

If I was mostly street riding it with occasional trails and small jumps, I wouldn't even waste the money on the Elka. Just go with DNM. If you plan to aggressively ride dirt then I would consider an Elka or other premium shock.

Mostly cruising the streets to trails and then riding a little off road, finding jumps, etc. I grew up racing mx and have definitely been known to huck some jumps on the big bike track back in the day. It’s going to be a nicer shock. I’m getting old (29 😂) and my back can’t take a DNM anymore. I have a 450 supermoto as well and don’t want to feel like I just have a brick for suspension when I occasionally bring the mini out.
