Just recently did a klx 140l build and was wondering if anyone else has done anything to the 140? Would like to see some input on all the guys with one!

Just waiting on my seat cover lol

• new plastics and graphics
• blue and black powder coated wheels
• oversized bar mounts and bars
• after market braking brake rotors
• 170cc big bore
• port and polished head
• high performance cam
• big gun big bore exhaust
• Dunlop tires. Mx3s and Mx52
• blue tusk gas cap
• BBR stiffer fork springs

Flipped rear link?????
Yeah, flipping the center portion of the rear suspension (the triangular shaped part) will raise the rear end slightly. I also replaced the dog bone with one from a KLX125, which is slightly shorter than the KLX140 to raise the rear a little more. These two mods raised the rear end enough to match the front with the KX usd forks (slid up 1/2 inch in the triple clamps).

When I modified the rear, I took everything apart and cleaned/greased it. I noticed that on the center, triangular portion there are bearings in two pivot points and a bushing in the third. WTH? Why wouldn't they use bearings everywhere? Is it the bushing that is causing issues for you? I'm sure it could be replaced with a bearing.

To be honest man I'm not sure! But that is stupid! I have slight play where the bottom of the shock connects to the linkage and slight play where the linkage and swing arm connect! It's happened to both my 140's and it's starting to annoy me!

We talked about this Wandell. That linkage IS a shitty design for that bike. I think somebody like Pivot Works makes a bearing setup to replace the bushings. There was a guy on here that machined an upgraded linkage. I'd look into that, AND ditch that stock front fender for a UFO KX style piece!! --L*64

I agree. You know, it would have made more sense if there were bushing in every pivot point if Kawi was going to cheap out. But what did they save by putting a cheap bushing in one pivot point? If a bike deserves a linkage, it deserves bearings!

Hey, whatever works for you man. I personally didn't like the stock fender. I went back and forth debating on the restyled UFO KX fender and the new KX (2014-16) fender. I wound up going with the new KX fender because I thought the angular lines matched the KLX140 plastic better.
Post some more pics when you finish!
