I wouldn't think not honing the cylinder would make that big of a difference. Sure, it wasn't the ideal way, but it should have some compression.

Did you break any of the rings? How about the valves? Make sure they are adjusted correctly.

I believe youve bent a valve. You said you were "having trouble finding TDC with the kickstarter", that means the left side engine cover wasnt off when you reassembled it. Very unlikely a noob got it timed right without removing the cover and not looking at flywheel/case marks.

It was off.. When i say i cant find tdc with the kicker i mean that when i push the kicker down with my hand it doesnt get hard. Its even resistance the whole way.. usually when you hit tdc the kicker has more resistance

Might be way far off but do you have a clutch kit and it adjusted way to tight

No compression after rebuild.
