So I was riding my pitster today I was in 4th gear and cruising along when something made a crunch sound and the engine stalled and seized there is no way I could kickstart it as it's like a brick wall... Question is do I just buy a new engine or could this be an easy fix...? If I was to buy a new engine what would be good to put in this bike I'd like something bigger that's just an idea though.. Cheers

Pull the top end if the cylinder is good and no holes in the piston get a V2. Mine did the same thing and the can timing changed because the piece you bolt the cam sprocket to is pressed on the cam. It moves slightly and changes the cam timing. Making the valve open to late and hitting the piston. Happened to me I swapped cams with a used one I had, then upgrades to a v2 soon after. Happened on a face of a jump and it wasn't pretty. I also noticed a power loss right before it happened.

one of four things

engine siezed - due too no oil in engine ? will just lock up or sand or heavy water in carb

droped valve - due too no valve adjusment ( usally the engine will run for a few sec afte the valve drops will make alot of nosie and then stop running

TRANSMISSION GEAR CAM LOOSE OR CHIP'D TOOTH AND LOCKED TRANS UP (not even worth fixing splitting case's changing gear sets ..ect not fun if u really dont know what your doing i do them all the time but for the avreage person not fun)

JUMPED TIMING AND CHAIN CAME OFF GEAR AND ENGINE LOCKED UP

not really worth fixing engine will never be the same after , depending on what broke just pull the motor apart cant do any more harm then what is done pull the head off first then try the cylinder if the cylinder dosnt come out its siezed that might be worth fixing depending on your budget $ 100-400 fix depending on what kind of cylinder and head kits u buy , ebay ones go for $120 bucks whole top end everything

The problem with zs and yx motors are the head. I've been through 3 Chinese 155s and they all have the same problems with the head like rocker wear cam failure and dropping valves. I'm still on the same v2 thats serviced regularly. The head is the first thing you upgrade not to mention the power gained plus its a roller can, less friction less wear. I love my h.o. motor just not the stock head.

It certainly made a mess cylinder has nasty dents and there's not much left of the piston. I bought this bike from a previous owner a week ago $1400 havnt even ridin it ten times..
i have looked at the 155 z h-o engines and I'm pretty keen to jut order one any thoughts on that specific engine..?

I've never changed anything on a engine if something breaks I normally just buy a new engine that's where I go wrong should be done rite the first time.. Is it pretty basic changing it over..?

The h.o. has a removable oil filter and a Daytona clutch basket. I had a 155z then bought a 160ho and loved it. The filter keeps trash out the oil. The 155z collects a lot of metal in the oil slinger because it has no filter.

If you get a new engine you wont need to do anything to the old engine. Just put a v2 on the new one to get some power gains, at the same time get some ti retainers for it. I had a bunch of time on my stock yx160 head and it still looks good (just maintained valve clearance). For your old engine you can keep it and tear into it and learn things ( trans, shift drum, etc)
