Hopefully I get some actual feedback lol, seems PM is far less busy than it was 3 years ago.

Anyways, I bought another 50 after missing having one and, naturally I want to put a kit on it.

My previous bike I sent the motor to Terry at firepower, but shipping is outrageous so I am kind of skeptical to do so again. I know a lot I people have big bore kits so I just wondered if people are just doing them themselves.

I had an 88rh with the piston from the 117 kit and manual clutch with the AHP 4 speed.

I had a lot of shifting issues, but after reading around it seems that maybe AHPs kit sucks? So I was planning on staying away from the manual clutch, how do the HD clutches hold up to a 108 stroker? Or should I go manual clutch and find a atc70 4 speed trans?

If most of you guys are building the motors yourselves, is it pretty taxing for someone who has never tore down a motor before. The idea of it kind of scares me lol.

Hoping to get some good info here, thanks guys!

I built my own motor... got a 2004 CRF50 and put in the complete TB 88cc BBK, cam, oil pump, etc.... I was a total nob, having never done anything like it before. So I watched a bunch of videos on YouTube and got a service manual. Took about 1/2 day because I worked slow and took my time. It wasn't that hard. I ended learning a lot about the Honda motor. I think you can do it, just spend some time on YouTube and check out the step-by-step videos. It's not hard, just take your time and work methodically.

Honestly the hardest part, even if you want to call it that, is putting the cam gear back on so the motor is in time. It really isn't that hard if you do your research first and have an good idea what everything is once your in there.

I've had issues with my tb hd clutch on my 88race head. Seems like it has no adjustment & drags & doesnt ever want to bang to gears. Always have to jam them.

My next build on my 70 is going to be the same. I'm just going to keep stock clutch. Maybe have it lightened cuz i live 40 min from firepowerminis.

I feel like a stock clutch wouldn't last in a 88 would it?

I honestly dk what I'll do now. FP is quoting me at like $1100 and is only charging $150 labor. I said well maybe I'll jus stick with 88kit cause I remember I paid like $500 said and done last time. He told me the price difference would be $150 cause I wouldn't need a stroker crank then. That sounds outrageous..

"The 88 kit comes with oil pump, 20mm carb, CDI and is the best bargain. The 108 kit has a 26mm carb.

Probably best to add a cam chain, too

349 88 race head kit
149 51mm stroker
74 HD clutch
128 Billet housing
150 transmission
15 cam chain
35 shipping
150 labor

$1050 shipped for a complete 108cc race head build, with your core bottom end. Add $50 for a used core bottom end. I buff the cases and install a set of SS allen-head bolts, so the whole deal looks shiny. I can lighten your flywheel, half price, $20, while here."

Those piranha motors any decent?

Those prices are normal for all the parts. Not alot of markup there and Terry is probably the best or at least one of the best mini-motor builder in the nation.
You could just do an 88kit with out the race head for about $150. Most of your stock parts will work, except you'd also need an high-volume oil pump. Stock clutch will hold it, or you could put in new hd springs.
You may want to ask Terry (Firepowerminis) what he'd suggest if you have a budget. I'm sure he's just giving you prices for what you asked for. His labor costs are hella cheap and he doesn't mark up shipping.

I might be persuaded to sell you some parts too. I've got a 88 kit with TB race head that I had on one of my bikes for about 2 laps around the block. I took it off and sold that bike, so it's basically new. Also have a full mod bike with a Kitaco 124 engine with Tak clutch, closed ratio 3 speed trans, hydraulic clutch, etc that I might part with... also have a Fox float on the bike, and a G-Craft swingarm and lots of other goodies.
I'm 20 minutes away from you if you're interested in anything.

and Piranahas are decent for the money too. FP sells those too for a decent price.
