Hi,

Need a little help here !!

I'am riding my 125cc for a year now. Great little bike Pit Bike MXR-SS 125cc 14-12

But I would like to get more out of my pit bike.

So here are my choices, my dealer as these engines:

- Zongshen 155.2cc
- YX 150cc (new generation)
- YX 160cc (new generation)

I'am no expert and these three engines on display look exactly the same !!! I have no idea what to choose !!

Help please !! Any experiences, stories, rumours ...

Thanks,

Steve

The biggest thing you want to think about is do you want to replace your exhaust. The 150 and 160 motors have a klx style head and you will need to replace or add the adaptor to your exhaust.
Your motor dose it have the HD clutch ? Does the clutch arm pull horizontaly front to back or does it pull vertically up and down.

The motor that pulls horizontally is a heavy duty clutch and will take the 142 motor big bore kit ok. If it is the clutch that pulls up and down that clutch is. On the crank and I don't recommend running the big bore kit.

I have a 124 motor with a 142 big bore and a bvh head and it will out pull a stock 155zs or 160 yx motor all day long. Th reliability of the motor is still good. I don't race mx just bar bang around the back yard.

The thing I like about the 155zs and 160yx motors is that you can hop up the motor to over 200 cc. The parts for both motors are cheap and performance parts are plenty full .

Both motors have there fair share of problems when raced or neglected. I think the 125 has less problems possibly due to less hp

Thanks everyone !

Mechanic is not my thing, changing the engine, 2 bolts, more like it. But thanks for the tip anyway.

So YX seems to be the choice.

But again, are they big difference between 150cc and 160cc YX ?

Thanks again,

Steve
