IMO i wud rather get any year honda fiddy over the new yamaha everytime i see that comercial with the stupid ass electric start it just annoys me, i understand its more for little kids but wuts the big deal with kicking it over

c'mon yall quit bashing the TTR. You just wait, the TTR has WAY more motor potential than the CRF from what I can see. The TTR 90 cylinder fits on the TTR 50, and, powroll makes a 120 kit for the 90. so because of the shorter stroke on the 50, the TTR 50 can be about a 114-117 without even stroking it. SUCK ON THAT HONDA BOYS!!!!! lol j/k.

Alright, this is the second time I have heard someone say that you can take a TTR50 up over 106cc without stroking it, well, its not possible. The case has an ID of 2.200" (aproximately), and you still have to get a sleeve down inside the cases. If you put a wall thickness of say 0.060" (which is thin), that puts you at a max bore size of 52.8mm or 106cc. Thats if you don't put any clearence for the sleeve to the case (pretty much impossible), 52.5mm is a more realistic max bore size, or 105cc.

Now, the next problem. The head (GYTR) on this motor doesn't really flow enough air to utilize much more than 105cc. Once you get into the 110 -120 range, the motor falls on its face and won't rev. There isn't much room for working on the head, if you have seen one, the valves pretty much make up the entire combustion area!

I would guess the best bet would be a Powroll stroker kit and a 50mm bore. That would put you right at 105cc, without risking the durability of the engine (thin sleeve hanging into the engine).

then explain to my why if a ttr 90 cylinder fits a ttr 50 and if powroll makes a 120 kit that is obviously thick enough to work on the 90. why wont the same kit, in a 90 cylinder work on the 50? and about the head, why wouldn't a ported 90 head flow well enough?

oh, and if the 90 cylinder does not fit the 50, just bore the cases.

The TTR90 starts off with a different stroke, so 120 is a 53.5 bore. The cylinder isn't just a bore in for the 120, it has to be sleeved to go that big. I don't know if the cases on the 90 are the same as the 50, if they are, then that sleeve would be really thin. As for the boring of the 50 cases, if you have to do that, it is no longer just a bore in project.

To the thought on the 90/120 moving enough air. A guy who is used to a CRF50 that is at either 88 or 104 isn't going to be happy with a motor that is all bottom end and doesn't rev (generally speaking). The 120 kit is an improvement for the 90, but you start robbing peter to pay paul when you get that big.

In the case of the 50, you are going to have to compare it to the Honda, if the power isn't usuable, its isn't worth doing. The 90 is unique, its not used much in the mini scene, this might be part (other than chassis) of the reason.

You can always go bigger, on just about anything, but it has to be worth the time and money.

well i got a ttr-90 lol oh and yes it is pretty bad ass so you cant say its gay....like z50king lol

i didnt read through to see if this was suggested, but why not buy a blue xr50 front fender and number plate and put it on there instead of that freak setup it has now....

id get a 12" front too, but i saw that suggested at the top of this page.

lol Tim, everyone's been saying that haha

i just looked at the forks and if he is goign to get a crf fender, it would still be out of proportion. The fender would sit really low and the shrouds would be kinda high. Look at were the fenbder would bolt up.
