Well it had been to long since I had ridden and minis and the bug came back. A few years ago I built this 70 with a 108 kit in it, then parted it out here on PM. Then I got searching for a 50 and found this gem, picked her up with a clean title for $600.

And the new bike......

BBR SP-5 Forks
Logan Built Engineering Sub Tanks
Takegawa 88 kit - will post more pictures, I want to try and figure out which kit is on it
Mikuni Carb - not sure of the size
Fox Podium Air Shock
12 Front Wheel
No Name Exhaust
Sano Swinger
Head Breather
Five O Throttle/Front Brake Assembly
Aftermarket Footpegs - No Namers
And a few Other Odds and ends

So it begins

First off is the fork rebuild.

Went through and rebuilt the forks with crf 70 seals, man they were a pain the in ass to get them back in the forks.

Action shot during the rebuild.

Also decided to sand the cases clean. Been using this Rust-Oleum spray air craft grade paint remover, it has been working pretty decent.

The current state of the bike.

Looking real nice. What is up with the blue, looks to be garden hose with filter attached?
That is the breather for the head.

Did a little more work today, got a moose chain roller, cost plus the hardware was about $17.

Also just put on my FMF 4.1 from my last build, glad I saved it!. Cost, FREE! Forgot how huge the header on these things are....

Anyone got a recommendation on a sprocket? I was thinking either a gray rental, black siki 50s, or maybe some type of red one. Just can't stand this solid one.

Also if anyone has a chainguide they are looking to sell let me know, I need one for this bike!

I got my sprocket from 50 stunt. Billet aluminum. It's red. Awesome looking sprocket.

Hey bro what did u use to sand the cases.. I jus got a 50 and it has an aluminum swinger but the moron painted it black.. It's chipped it looks like crap.. What would you reccomend to clean it up
I used this stuff.
Rustoleam spray on aircraft grade paint removers. Spray it on and make sure that it is n't below 50 degrees out. Let it sit for about 15 minutes then scrap the paint off using a scotch brite pad or a plastic scraper. Ordered a new sprocket and chainguide yesterday. Here is a quick peak of want is to come, shout out to JJW for some badass graphics.

Well finally finished up the bike. Thanks to JJW for the Badass graphics, wanted to keep them relatively stock looking! Added a red one industries seat cover, white rear fender, Renthal sprocket ( paid 34$ new!), and a light speed chain guide. Took her out today but had some of the air filer rubber get stuck in the carb. Suspension feels great, can't wait to go rip it around some NorCal tracks. Bike has a little more than $900 into her, including the purchase price, feel thats pretty good. Here are a few pictures.

Sick 600$ bike for sure.

Question about the forks. Do you think the 70 seals are better than the BBR ones? And what is with the reservoirs. Those add a lot of pressure or something? Are they necessary? Just asking cause tis is the first I've seen em.

Nice bike tho. For sure.

Yes, I used 70 seals, there are much better than the BBR ones. Here is a link to the rebuild video. It is pretty damn had to get the seals in the fork, I couldn't find any type of PVC pipe at home depot that would work ( to press the seals in). I ended up using a mountain bike seal setter I had, but I recommend if you don't have the tool, find someone or a shop that does!

The deal with the reservoirs are that they are fork Sub-Tanks, there were built by logan performance engineering (not around anymore). As the fork compresses it allows the air to go somewhere, thus making the fork seam more plush and not as hard towards the end of the stroke. They feel great! Enzo and a few other companies still make them.
