My TTR125/YZ80 conversion

I always wanted to build one as a kid, but even better, now I get to build one as an adult.

I will be posted pics and a detailed step by step when I do the swingarm/shock conversion.

Just did the front end today.

Had to trim a couple inches off the YZ fender to clear the exhaust.

Took just under two hours to do the swap.

Started tearing apart the rear shock to put new seals in. Got hung up on getting the cap off. Gonna have to wait till after Xmas to get access to a tool to get it off.

What was involved with changing the swing arm? Just weld on some new shock linkage mounts? Did you have to grind a spot for the shock piggy back?

Sorry about the noob questions but i just got a TTR 125 and looking to do the conversion since I am big fat guy using a little bike to improve my riding.

Will the TTR motor fit in the YZ chassis?

Did the yz triple clamp fit straight onto the ttr?

Did the yz clamp fit on the ttr chassis without fabrication?

The YZ clamps fit without any fab work. You use the YZ lower bearing and the TTR upper bearing and you have to put a couple washers under the hex nut or else you run out of threads. The swap took me less than two hours

The swing arm needs spacers on either side because the YZ swing arm is slightly narrower. You have to notch out the frame for the piggyback as well as re drill the upper shock mount. If you run the piggyback on the right side you have to either run a pod air filter or make a new air boot to the air box. Or you can run the piggyback on the left side but you have to modify your exhaust. If I didn't have the bbr stainless exhaust I would have done that but I don't want to have to bend really thing tubing and tig weld the SS.

Im moving the battery to the airbox and running a pod filter.

Boom picked up a filter today. Actually fits in there really well. The boot has a slight angle too it. Mounted it so the filter is turning inward. The filter has a big spring inside it so it keeps it's shape, but the filter wedges itself up against the piggyback l and makes for a nice snug and out if the way fit. Pumped. It also seems like it runs perfect with a 20 pilot and a 110 main. But that's just revving it up in the driveway.
