Hey All,
I am wanting to do the same mods to my '06 70, could you tell which swingarm, shock and tall seat you are using, I have looked a bit on ebay but am a bit confused as to what will actually fit, I put the TB 88 kit with cam and carb a few years ago, it really wakes up the 70, no issues at all, I am going to add the race head and stroker crank this winter.
Cheers,
Walter

ok, so just to update the forum so it doesnt seem dead. im finishing up a side job worth some good $$$ (sidework is my funding), so within the next week or so ill be sitting on the computer with a piranha 140 and a tb88rh in my cart, deciding which one to delete and which one to order, and a whole bunch of other parts, i.e. front fork springs, new tires, rim locks?(maybe), pegbar and pegs, etc..

or i could use your help...

$1000 is my budget for now.

so, without buying forks/frame/swinger and staying with drum brakes, what would you spend $1000 on?

Hey bike looks great had the 88 kit on my 70 wen I bought it but I went to tboltusa and bought the piranha 140 and omg it runs so amazing there is so much power I went with the 22mm carb and upgraded the jets and it really is great but I don't understand what you guys were saying about the front forks because I need my 70 to sit higher also thanks

I'd put a rim lock in the rear. If I don't make sure I have 20psi the tire will spin & tear the valve stem off the tube. Its happened 3 times. I'm still telling you to go with the 140. You will not be happy with the 88rh in the 70. Get some big pegs if you don't already have some. If you have to have the 88 go ahead & get the stroker crank & istall it at the same time. A new gear set would be good too because stock blows.

if you want to to sit higher and actually have travel. buy you some 6-7" TRAVEL froks and a mx style swing arm. my 70 is the same size as a 85 small wheel bike.

o ya rim locks are a must, you ride it hard you will have to have a rim lock

All torn down, trying to decide whether or not to paint the frame or not.. I may just leave it and clean it up.

88 kit and manual clutch on the way, I decided against the 140, I was a little more concerned that I'd tear more stuff up with the 140, and really I was plenty happy with the 70 as it was so I think a little gain with the 88 will be plenty. I only 150 lbs so it should handle me fine

Also I'm going to ditch the powercore and I have a factory 4.1 on the way. Brake pedal, pegs/mount, handlebar mount, fork springs ordered. Soon ill be gettin a fresh set of rubber on the wheels and some rim locks.

You should get the 108 if you're gonna stick with your Honda engine. It's a lot of extra power for 150 bucks, believe me. Also i would leave the frame and or paint it the same color as stock, just looks so clean, imo. Everything else I think you're making the right choice with.

unfortunatly i dont have access to a paint gun, so i dont really want a shitty spray paint job on the frame, the more i think about it i think ill just leave it for now. chrome rims might look odd with a black frame and stock colored swinger...

how bad is it to split the case on these? thats all that scares me about doin the stroker crank. im a mechanic but have never had a little guy that far apart.. im scared! lol, but really i cant see it being that bad, other than maybe the trans?

I'm a mechanic too. It's super easy. There are a few YouTube videos on splitting the case it's not bad at all. You're 80% of the way there just installing the bore kit. Make sure you have a clutch nut tool to get the clutch nut off.

as far as i know the kit i ordered from tb comes with the high volume oil pump, but would it be neccessary to run an external oil cooler and billet clutch hub with the 108 crank?

really the main issue i have is that it seems like you can budget so much money for the build you want, but to do this, you have to do that, and to do that you have to do this.. adds up real quick, know what i mean? seems never ending, but i want this damn thing to be reliable..

after watchin the video, cant believe i was worried...LOL, too easy once the clutch is out.

I have a 117 and I don't run a cooler. I would probably get the billet basket upgrade at some point. I have a kitaco 108 se engine and the tb manual and I just found out the clutch basket is cracked. It ran great, not sure how long it was cracked for since I bought the motor second hand. But once I saw that I bought a billet basket. I'm not running that motor at the minute so I'm haven't installed it yet. The kitaco will put down a little more power than the tb so I'm not sure if its a worry with the tb or not but its goo piece of mind for 120 bucks.

i broke down today and ordered the stroker crank as well, mainly because i tore the engine/trans apart and decided i wouldnt want to tear it down again.

the 88rh comes w/ a 20mm carb, how much is that going to kill me? or how hards it gonna be to tune the 20mm w/ the 108? i realize i can always upgrade later, so im just going to run this one for now.

Good choice! Theres quite a few people here running the tb 108 with tb 20mm. My work friend runs the 108 with the 20 and it works well. I'm sure there is some small amount amount of HP left on the table compared to a bigger carb but it runs well.
