The reason i bought the little puttputt toy in the first place, was that its a cheap bike that i wouldnt mind blowing up, because its cheap to repair. Ive always had the ratrodder mindset, honestly its more fun to make it yourself. Anyone can throw money at it, theres no sense in trolling a guy that wants to do something crazy. Offer advice if you have it, past experience, and give him props if he makes it work. If it doesnt, you remain unaffected.

Ill put rotgut vodka in koolade rather than buy champagne any day ;)

@duckhunt: in the drawing i had the centrif. Blowing into the compressor side, with a blowoff goin into the exhaust to help spool the turbo. I want the blowoff to be around 2 or 3 psi tops.

On a side note, with that much clean air being shot into the exhaust, is it safe to assume that my exhaust will backfire like a shotgun? (considering id have a gratuitous amount of unburnt fuel as a result of the cam overlap i would need for this to work) Id like to see the quizzical looks i receive as a result

Especially if i run the propane in before the blowoff, but at that point id literally be wasting fuel for show.

Came up with the propane inj. Setup idea btw, ill draw it out after work.

Whats the suggested compression ratio i can go up to, on around 9 psi boost with 120 octane? The 15:1 piston i found was claimed to be good for 97 octane at my elevation at a minimum...

So you're still going with the whole propane fuel idea? If so you're going to make your own tank? You're going to get some crazy looks when you go to the gas station to fill the tank up. I'd be really scared of a home made propane tank as well. If something goes wrong you're going to blow your weenie off.

Anyway this whole setup is going to be bulky as shit. You should post some pics of the frame setup you plan to throw this into.

just make sure you have insurance. thats all im going to say about this.... if your goin for speed. by a freakin anima gear it real high and run 80mph with 30mph brakes and see how it turns out...... just my .02 cents.

Oh im just gonna weld a bracket for two benzomatic torch tanks (so i know when im at half) to strap to lol. Ill use the standard valve for fuel control, and the throttle set up is pretty simple. Basically a butterfly valve with a thick shaft, with a hole drilled through one side of the shaft for the propane to pass through. Simultaneously controlling air and propane

I assume your going to run vapor and not liquid ,tanks cannot be horizontal to run vapor as you will get liquid into it and you won't like that ,totally different setups .
For vapor service you will need room for liquid to vaporize, one tank liquid and one for vapor to feed the system, with such small tanks, liquid service you can mount it any way as you want the liquid ,we use lp both ways in some rock crawlers and mudders so it can be done but you need some room

Ive considered that, i was thinking if theyre pitched upwards about 20 degrees it might work, thatd be a pretty sharp angle though i wouldnt go higher than that, because this will already look like something built in the favelas, dont wonna go too ghetto. Would a small chamber do the trick? (maybe hose to 1"x3" chamber back down to hose) probable gonna run 3/8" hose

What you really need to do is find a layout of an lp system and scale it down ,there are a lot of valves and electronics needed and two lines needed for supply ,one for idle /starting and one for part throttle/wot
Pilot is full time ,and main is vacuum driven, your main problem is timing it to come on , idle line is activated when starter is engaged as to not fill the block with lp

That sounds bulky and complicated, and more so expencive.

What ive noticed is that torch tanks are meant to be used at different angles, you can lay it horizontally and barely affect the flame. Im sure its because the tank doesnt have enough propane compressed in to have that much liquid in it. so ill have to replace frequently, but it simplifies the system quite a bit. Also if the line comes in before the compressor, wouldnt it theoretically have enough vacuum (before its compressed obviously) that it would vaporize quickly? Not to mention in my mind that would mix it with the air nicely

Few things to remember propane (liquid ) boils at -44 degree's F / 1 gallon of liquid makes like 244 cubic feet of vapor ,there needs to be solenoids at every point that it enters into the engine with staged triggers that open them and close them if it stalls or it will just leak an " boom " ! It's gotta be bulky to work properly and be safe ,your idea for tank system is fine it's in between that is gonna take some work , lines must be hard lined or lp hose , as regular fuel line will not work ,it breaks down way to quickly ,you will also need to take the btu's of lp and convert them to volume needed for cc's for pilot (idle) and main orifices ,and with a turbo it's complicated , as it will need more in full spool ,you my friend have a project ahead if you !

The only thing similar is a supercharger. Anyway I forgot to ask earlier, how and what kind of carb are you going to use for this propane thing? And are you actually going to make this happen? If so when are you going to get started?

Oh and by the way On the video list after the first video there is one of a guy who supposedly trubocharged a thumpster 125, Though I doubt the thing actually produces any boost at all. He prob just put it on there more for looks.

For the money you're talking about blowing you might as well get an Anima 4-valve 160 or whatever size they come in these days and call it a day. You're blowing things way out of proportion for no reason. I see a lot of talk and no action, either put up or shut up. Don't mean to be blunt but I keep opening this thread hoping to see something interesting but all I see is a lot of small talk.

I somewhat agree with the last line. Every time I open this thread I'm hoping at least for a beginning or at least a picture of the frame this concoction plans to be placed in. That's why I've been asking if you're still going to do this or not. Though I would not have been so blunt about it, actually that was a bit past blunt and borderline just mean. Anyway ill be waiting... Shit theres nothing else to do.

The problem is that im stationed in camp lejeune NC, and the bike is at home in nj. I see this as an advantage, because i am extraordinarily impatient. If i jumped on it, like my little voice is screaming to do, this would be another failure that all of you would be greatly disappointed to have wasted your time on.

I use my time away from the bike to spray ideas at you, followed by the great advice that you all offer. I appreciate your patience, but regrettably ask for more.

Little by little all of you have offered a lot of help in this project. I promise that you will not be disappointed, as i am taking all advice to heart. A combination of everyones words will go into this to create something worth while
