Cool collection. I'd like to try a CT with the later-style BMX-looking handlebars sometime and see how those felt. All three of those CTs look good to me in the sense of they're all there, but they don't look so hyper-clean that you'd be afraid to fire one up and take off across a field on it.

I like the extended tailpipe you added to that FMF muffler on the Z. Getting the exhaust out from under the bodywork and off the right shock reservoir seems like a very good idea to me.

Thanks! unfortunately none of the CTs really run at the moment, the 1981 runs but not right, the other 3 have the signs of life, but havent spent anytime getting them going yet, they are all new to me!

The yellow one I think will be my project toy bike - I want to motor swap it for some more power, and it will be getting a non original resto mod done, with the intent of making it a daily use street/dual purpose play thing rather than buying a new honda ruckus (cause modified vintage honda is so much cooler)

The Z was a fun project and i've put some good trail time on it since built. The FMF muffler is actually a cut down piece from a honda CR500 that i had laying around, so combined with a cheapo pitbike exhaust header i was able to make it sit how i wanted it to, but did not want the exhaust blowing on the shock or the number plate - the tailpipe was quite a little challenger, i had to pie cut and bend and reweld multiple times to make it snake around the shock and still exit straight out the back (exit is actually almost dead on to the location of the stock muffler)

the swingarm was cut and machined plugs were made to stretch it 2inches then welded and blended to dissappear, the fork lowers are brand-x minis chomoly tubes with HD springs and delrin bushings, and it is a lifan 125 4 speed,

The stock bodywork was trashed and had been painted etc.... I couldn't justify the cost of OEM plastics, so when i found the XR50 plastic had the one piece rear fender and number plate i thought it was worth a shot, it is ACERBIS limited edition silver plastics, with some trimming and some heat gun it worked and i think it looks pretty damn good and seems like it belongs there.

I enjoy customizing and tinkering on all things mechanical, luckily my wife understands and doesn't judge me (too much) as long as i don't mess with her TTR125 !

Love the ct's, once upon a time I used to have a 81 model, street legal with turn signals that I would deliver my paper route with.I had a big newspaper saddlebag I'd throw over the seat full of newspapers during the week. It was kind of hard to ride at first, but once I emptied the bag it got easier to ride.I was my first real taste at freedom from the neighborhood as it allowed me to ride far and go explore far off places.my only peeve with that bike is that it didn't have more top end.40mph was it.I added a couple of mph by adding a 15 tooth counter shaft sprocket which gave it about 3mph more but that was it.I rod it wound out for long periods of time on the blvds trying to keep if with traffic. When it was really hot,I'd see puffs of white smoke coming out the exhaust pipe. For the life of me I don't know why lol!:) I put over 3000 mi on that bike before I sold it which I regret now.wish I had it back......

I had a paper route too, but had to deliver mine from a schwinn 10-speed. Used to pick up the newspapers from a paper shack and one kid had a Honda mini trail that he would deliver his papers with. One day his bag got tangled in the rear wheel as he was doing about 30 down the street. No helmet of course, we didn't know better in '79. He got messed up pretty bad and was in the hospital for almost a month.

The only people that did paper routes around here hen I was a kid, were older folks that started at 4:30 am driving vans. You guys must be old! :)

My generation was one of the last to have kids delivering newspapers. Newspapers got tired of kids blowing off their route and started hiring adults looking for extra income. Some older lady (probably younger than I am now) took mine over when I gave it up in '83. I still have my 5-year perfect service award. Used to give my phone number to my customers told them to call me rather than the newspaper if theirs was missing. One guy called me 3 Sundays in a row so the next Sunday I did a Jim Rockford stakeout and caught his neighbor swiping the paper.

Nowadays who reads newspapers?
