Figured since im building a nice TTR and there arent many around, I would make a build thread. Included is a before pic, and the after pics (so far). I still have LOTS of parts coming. Tall handlebars, tall seat from GUTS Racing, stunt pegs, new grips (yellow), black front brake lever, DRZ110 front fender, and a couple other things. So far the mods include--

-Xtender to raise rear suspension 4"
-SANO triple clamp/risers
-DMC Alien exhaust
-airbox mod (5 vents molded in then painted over)
-rejetted stock carb (eventually want to get an aftermarket one)
-Powermadd hand guards
-Renthal bars (being replaced with ProTaper tall bars)
-quick release killswitch
-everything painted black (spraybombed, but being professionally painted next week)

and future mods include.. 12" front wheel (12/12), supermoto tires, different swingarm, new fork springs, new shock, and lots of powdercoating

the numbers on the number plates are temporary. what do you guys think about paint? im getting it professionally painted because my buddy owns a body shop. he has black paint extra from my car, so i could get him to do it black like i planned on, but now i cant make up my mind. thinking about white. or some other color? ive done so much work to it and i cant figure out why everyone elses on this site looks so much better than mine. is it just the graphics? if i got a graphics kit you think it would make the difference? oh and also what would you guys do with the motor (paint-wise)? I have everything painted gloss black (high-temp) with some yellow accents to match the rockstar stuff, but im not really feelin it. should i paint the motor another color? and how bout the wheels/hubs? red? yellow? another color all together? thanks!

I would buy the graphics kit first and see what it looks like on the bike then paint it to match or leave it the same color. I recently got a new pit bike frame then switched the motor from my old pit bike and i bought new plastics and graphics and now it looks completely different.

that just gave me hope. lol your bikes before pic looks rougher than mine, and the after looks awesome! im going to paint it white and get a graphics kit with some red in it and do red accents.

ive put so much time and money in this thing already and im just getting upset because it doesnt even compare to the looks of other members bikes.. idk why i cant make the black/yellow color scheme work. anyone do this color scheme ever before??

i have, you cant do too much of one color, you have to balance it out. your whole bike is black blob which makes it look like a cheap spray painted bike, and you have a little bit of scattered yellow. try combining your scheme, like yellow spokes and black rims, yellow frame, and find yellow/black graphics (rockstar), and black tall seat, then youll be looking dialed  ps ditch the chain guard and i wouldnt have painted the whole engine

What rockstar said x2. Yeah biggest problem is way way way to much black you need accent colors splashes of color here and there to break up the monotonous expanse of black plus with that much black it becomes hard to accent it without that color looking forced and cheap. Perfect example would be the gas cap, cool idea looks good but IMO makes it look cheap and cheap Chinese style. Def get rid of the chain guard. I would prob add white number plates, rockstar graphics and figure out something with the blue seat. Lastly change your numbers size, go down an inch or two that is really making it look cheaper than it really is. Otherwise clean bike that is definitely somewhat rare in that no-one builds these.

Good luck man!!!!

i ordered a rockstar black/yellow graphics kit with yellow numbers. i guess ill do it over black. (thinking about white number plates also). and i have a guts racing tall black seat on the way. im hoping this will make it better.

yea, now that i think about it, im not sure if i got it straight from GUTS, or if they transferred me to the company that they get them from. either way, someone makes them. it was 80 for the foam and 50 for the cover

I agree on that, and use black numbers instead (unless you need to have red for some reason).

As a couple of me said before, you need to get some more accent colors, to get rid of the big black look.

There is plenty of stuf you could do in yellow.
- Dress up kit (otherwise you might powder coat the top cover, side cover, cam cover and valve caps)
- Fuel lines
- Spokes or hubs
- Chain
- Fot pegs

The list can be made even longer, it's just a matter of time, money and devotion. If you're out of ideas, look at other nice builds and try to see the small details to get the ideas and motivation back. Google and Pitbike of the Month is your friend :)

Good luck!
