just picked up my first BBR perimeter bike a few months ago. have always wanted one! anyway, ive now been looking at the 10" perimeter bikes and one of these days would be amazing to add a perimeter 50 to the garage too.

my only question is...why do guys take a klx and put 10" wheels on it? i always thought a 10" wheel was a 50....as in a honda based engine...not a klx 180cc with smaller wheels?

im not trying to hate on anybody because i like them all...but i just dont understand why a klx should be 10" legal...

I guess the same reason people around here put small wheels on a crf150, or ttr 125 and try to race them in the Pitbike class lol... just can't figure it out. However, I'm pretty sure there is a length limit that has to met according to Vegas rules. Not 100% sure, but I think the klx frames have to be shortened in order to race the 10in class.

Also the same reason they put 10inches on LXRs or SSR160s.
Im sure its more comfortable than a true 10" class bike. Unfortunately as far as Vegas goes with the class it lets you run a pretty long wheelbase so most klx110s with small wheels, even some BBRs would still meet the rules. I for one dont like how much you can get away with in the 10" class in Vegas, or alot of the classes for that matter. Most people go by Vegas rules as the "standard" but most of there rules are garbage, IMO.

bc they dont know they could go to 8 inch wheels

My bad, got side tracked. I seriously thought of doing a 10-12'' KLX, but for a drum set up. I think you'd be better off buying pre-made rims and hubs for this specific application rather than fight it and try to make them. If it's been done before, you should be able to get a set made for you. Save time and hassle.

We were on the discussion of 10'' and 12'' rims and I was simply stating that if the OP ( or whom ever ) wanted to actually consider it ( I did, and still am, kinda ) that it's quite an daunting task to tackle unless you're a rim expert is all. And people do it because it's fun, haha. Same reason people ride pit bikes in the first place. Change up the game, be a hipster, a trend starter, whatever floats the boat I guess. People do what ever bakes their cookies.

once u guys ride a 110 with 10" wheels then talk.. BUT till then just keep wondering the magic question "why". now if your talking about cheating.. the daytona 150 is just as fast as most mod 110 motors if not faster. put a dohc on it and puts a 180 to shame so i dont see where that is cheating if your racing against full mod 50s, is it more comfortable? ya. but that has nothing to do with it its a little bit bigger then a full mod 50, and there just as squirly to. now if ppl were racing 110s with 10'' wheels against stocker 50s then id understand getting mad about it. but when the motors put out the same #HP wise i dont see the big deal if its such an advantage then everyone build one and race them

kobys right. the only advantage a 10inch 110 has over a 50 is leg room. other than that id say the 50s with dohc are faster than full mod 110s cuz of the power to weight ratio. they make the same hp just way lighter. but they're both squirrely as hell. 10 wheels are simply just hard to keep the power to the ground.

Well there are a few reasons i think the 10 110s are like cheating, the larger room makes the bike much easier to get comfortable on and that allows more confidence when riding fast. Also the 110 motors have a lot of potential with small amount of work compared to a 50 motor. Not to mention the 110s have a longer wheelbase which makes them much more stable, more squirrely than a 14/12 110, but still night and day difference compared to a true 50. Another thing that makes them more stable is that the added weight would help keep the bike planted going through corners and not deflect off of stuff at high speeds.
But what do i know, ive played with putting smaller wheels on bikes before.;)

Dont get me wrong i could care less what you ride or race at a local level, but with the national level like vegas, it upsets me how much people can get away with in some classes where others are way to restricted. I always wanted to go to race vegas, but if i have to travel half way across the country to race my 50 in the 10" class, ill be pissed if a 10"lxr or klx110 is in there with me. Also vegas has no classes for true stock bikes(a huge part of the sport) and bigger minis must be stock to race against electric bikes that are close to 85 class bikes. Its things like this that get to me when people say vegas is the standard of the industry.
Like i said, im glad to see other people trying new things like me, you just need to remember that they just have their place.
