I figured I'd start a new thread for my build. I'm currently in the process of modifying my wife's TTR125LE. The power and weight of the TTR is perfect for her, but it is a little short and under sprung for her. I picked up a 1996 KX100 rolling chassis for $200 off craigslist that I am putting the wheels, suspension, and brakes on the TTR. The front end was pretty much a direct bolt on. The rear end will be swapped out this week. I also picked up a BBR frame cradle to take the stress off the motor. The plan is to get all the KX parts mounted on the TTR, and then tear it back apart for powder coating. It should look really sweet once its done.

I also picked up a tank off a 09 TTR125 so that I can change out to the new style radiator shrouds. I believe that with the new tank, I will have to get the newer model seat to match. I will be looking into a tall seat for her height (5'7").

I did this exact build, but i used an 02 kx100 chassis, but the swingarm had to be grinded down or open the frame and relocate shock mount and linkage tabs. Idk if the swingarm and linkage changed much between the years but if it hasnt its alot of work, i could do it in one day after about 8hrs now that i know how to do it. Just make sure you get all the shock and linkage angles right and it will handle amazingly, the ttr is fairly light so it feels really nice, but mine has a really fast motor, so mine handles like crf150r. Good luck

The KX swingarm is about an inch wider than the TTR. There looks to be plenty of room to safely grind the KX swingarm to make it fit. I want to keep the electric start, so making a home for all that goes with it with the new shock will be a little tricky. From looking at it, it doesn't look to be to tough of a project. I'll post some pictures as it progresses.

Yea, i didnt have the e-start so mounting the shock wasnt that bad. As for the swingarm i took off about 1/2inch and used a jack to spread the frame, also the subframe is narrower than the swingarm so that need to be spread too. Its not hard, it just takes time to get it done right.

Nice. I just grabbed up an '05 TTR for my GF this week. I didn't get the big wheeled one b/c we ride mostly pit bike tracks, and I wanted to keep the seat height low. I really like the little bike so far, but my 150F stomps it powerwise.

The graphics are junked on our bike-- and the ones look preety good on yours. Would you be at all interested in selling your old tank and shrouds? I may be interested in the "L" front end as well with the disc brake depending on the cost. I'm not going to get too crazy with our bike b/c she doesn't ride that hard, and I like the simplicity of a stock bike. Thanks. --L*64

I actually have a buddy with the smaller wheeled TTR125 that is buying the stock wheels and suspension off of mine for the same amount that I bought the KX for ($200). Can't beat an even deal! I might sell the stock tank/graphics, which are mint. We are the second owners and it was a woman who rode it before my wife. Both have babied it. Once I get the new style tank on and make sure it works, we can discuss selling the original tank/shrouds.

you can redrill the shock mount hole a little down & back & it'll raise the rear a few inches. I was going to swap the cr shock & swingarm when i did my forks but didn't want all the work. I added a stiff spring to the stock shock & it works fine. I've read the ttrl shock with resi works great with a revalve. If you don't want a bunch of work, just another option. A tall seat makes the riding position much better. I have a guts racing tall/medium. Wish I would have gotten the firm but I'm big. I got the hardcore cover & it's rubber, I don't really like it.

I saw the thread on your TTR. Not a bad way to go, but just not the way I want to go. I want the lighter aluminum wheels from the KX, rear disk brake upgrade, and the suspension upgrade front and rear.

I finally started back into the TTR125LE project that I'm doing for my wife. I picked up a tank from a 2009 TTR, a GYTR tall seat, and new style radiator shrouds from Maier. I also have a bunch of parts waiting to be installed such as a BBR frame cradle, full decalworks decal kit, new aluminum bars, and new hand guards. I also plan to order a FMF exhaust, a stiffer rear spring, and a set of fastway footpegs.

As you can see from the pictures, I have the KX100 front end mounted up. I doubt I will get the KX100 rear suspension installed before she starts riding it again, so I will probably just drill a new mount for the rear shock to level the bike for now.

Here is a before picture:

I finally got all the new style plastics, graphics kit, handguards, new bars, and BBR shock spring installed. I still plan to order a FMF exhaust for it, since the BBR frame cradle hits on the stock exhaust. I have ridden it around a bit, and it is a hole new bike. The suspension is a night and day difference for the bike. Here are a couple pics.
