How does a ttr125 stack up to an xr100. I found a good deal on a ttr. I have a stock/mod crf70 & I'm looking for a bigger small bike. I'm 6'4", 230lbs so the little bikes are small. How do ttr's respond to mods?

The ttr has very little power, the airbox and baffle mod make only a little difference. My stock ttr is still a blast to ride, but you will beat the piss out of it winding it out and jumping it. I have popped a couple spokes so far, nothing major but something to watch out for. Also the suspension is very soft, you will certainly need stiffer springs.

TTR hands down. I have both. The TTR125 is more powerful and the cam rides in a roller bearing instead of the aluminum head like the XR. The TTR chassis may be a little more bulky. I can't compare frames as my XR motors are in KX chassis. But I would pick the TTR motor over the XR anyday.

On another note. Can anyone compare a TTR125 motor to a KLX140, CRF150 motor, Etc.

I'm curious to hear everyone opinions on the best big mini motor.

Edit: Saw the post about suspension and spokes on the TTR. I'm a pretty small guy and I trashed the TTR rear wheel. You will break the rear wheel without doing something with the suspension.

Like I said before-- the KLX140 has alot of potential. Search my posts from 2008 when I worked with one. The rear linkage is basically what is holding that bike back. That-- and it's pathetic powered engine. --L*64

Picked it up today. Looked a little rough. Had some super cheap bars, no grips, & jacked levers. I had a set of honda mini pro tapers, put on some new gips & levers. I also removed the worn out fork boots & replaced the rusty chain. The little bike could use some new plastic & graphics. Still not to bad for 450. I'll ost some pics as soon as I get a chance.

Good deal if it's all there and runs well. I'm looking for something like that myself for the GF. She doesn't really like my 150F because it's too heavy, and I don't really like her riding my 110-- it's too expensive. I could use a stock Xr100 for road racing, and I could switch wheels back and forth in a jiffy so she could ride it as a dirt bike when need be. She says she likes it better sizewise than a 110... but if a 110 had pink plastic and graphics-- she'd like that more, so I dunno.... --L*64

My stock carb is pretty much shot. I've got a leftover set of banshee carbs which I believe are mikuni 26's. Any way I can make one work? I have a bunch of jets for them. If I open the air box & exaust can I get it to work on a stock motor. If I like the bike I'll be adding a big bore kit. What is a good base jetting for a 26?

I was running a 145 main and 22.5 pilot and that seemed to work for me

So I started removing my worn out graphics today. It's quite an ordeal because they are so dry they just chip off little by little. The tank has dicolored pretty bad but I think it looks better then the rotten graphics. Also went to modify the airbox & found no air filter. So I pulled the carb & it is nice & dirty. Already had a 115 main but had the stock pilot. I'm going to get a bigger pilot tomorrow & order a filter. I cleaned the bike up today but I really need to pressure wash it to get it looking new again.

Picked up a new tube & starcross rear tire today. I also order back wheel bearings & a clutch cover gasket. It was dripping a little oil & I can't stand that. I didn't have the tops to the banshee carbs so I bought a kx65 carb off ebay. They are a mikuni vm24ss & read in a couple places that they work well on a stock bore ttr. It's running right now but I had to rig my stock carb up pretty good. I'll get some pictures up tomorrow.
