I've always wanted to start a CT70 build (I gotta have one of everything apparently) Since this was going to be a non-stock CT, I started with a bare frame I bought from a fellow in B.C for $10 +$50 for shipping. The frame was in great shape, just a little rust pitting by the lower section near the top engine mount. It had the stock wire harness included but I quickly sold that back on ebay for $10 since I don't trust 33 year old wiring and would be running 12 volts instead of 6.

Started doing some half assed mock up before attacking the frame. I used a Thumpstar front end but lengthened the steering stem to work with the CT frame.

Got a set of Chinese Z50 wheels to use with the Z50 style hubs I bought from fatcaaaat. They're WIDE, 3.5x12 up front 4.0x12 in the rear. I used a swingarm from Tbolt, it was the "less expensive" swingarm, looks really good for the price

On the ground and kinda rolling with my "shock substitutes" in place. Minus brakes, seat and a few other things...

Image

Powder Coated the hubs the same colour as the frame. Frame and hubs were done in Granny Smith Sparkle only other colour I used (besides raw/polished aluminum) is semi gloss black (triples, pegs, clutch/ign covers...)

Front rotor showed up the other day, its a 200mm floating rotor from Belgium. Fit perfect with my Thumpstar front end, just had to shim the caliper in about 1/4". It came as a kit with a 4 piston radial mount caliper that I won't be using, anyone want it? Shoot me a PM for pics.

Image

Shocks came in this week too from Thailand, now it's almost ready for a test run, got it up on the stand to get the front brake figured out. Just waiting for my offset wheel spacers from Takegawa which should've been in today, oh well maybe tomorrow I can take for a rip.

Image

I have emblems and decals coming in the mail, then gotta install a battery, speedo then wire it all up. Still alot to do, but I can see the light!

Oh yeah, need fenders too, dammit...

Sorry for the bad blackberry pics. I'll snap some good ones once it finished

Looking good keep the pics coming. I've seen them before somewhere, but what tires are you using? What kind of instrument cluster is going on the bike?

Thanks

Wow shes looking real good. Do you plan on getting the stock stickers to put on?
Thanks, I'm going to put the stock stickers on the lower part of the frame but putting some "chrome" HONDA emblems along the top section

Thanks, the tires are Kenda K413 (120/70-12 rear, 110/70-12 front). I think I'll go with another Acewell gauge for this one, same as my Monkey. They're easy to install, inexpensive and seem to work really well.

Looks really good!!!

I'm in the process of a K0 build and really like those wheels, where did you buy them from?

Given your expertise and experiece do you think these wheels would work. http://www.tboltusa....3a4284206f4c66b

Which thumpstar front end did you use? I can't find a pair on their website that looks like yours.

Is the T-Bolt swingarm wider than stock? Their webpage doesn't have specific info, but it must be to fit a 4.0 rear wheel....

I bought the wheels off ebay along with the exhaust from the same seller. If you search "Z50 wheels" they should pop up, they're available in a few different sizes. The only thing is that the 3.5x12's seem to have an issue with not being centered when bolted to the hub. "Big Pete" had the same problem with his CT build. Although, offset wheel spacers are available from Takegawa, Gcraft, and a couple other companies in order to center the rim on the hub, I needed about 4-5mm's of spacing for my front wheel.

The Thumpstar front end I believe comes off the '06 90-110cc models. As for the swingarm, I don't know how it measures up to a stocker as I never had one to compare it to. I can try to get you some measurements and post 'em up later tonight or tomorrow.

Small update:

Got my badge decals and grips today! The decals are printed on super shiny chrome vinyl and stick really well, just wish they were a bit thicker.

Do you recommend OEM Z50 hubs off Ebay or are the CHP's hubs good quality for the rear? The front hub on the brake side is not off a z50 as it has 3 mounting holes for the front disk. Where did you get that?
It's from a chinese Z50 (monkey) style bike that uses a front disc brake. I used a Z50 rear hub with an SL70 brake panel. The Z50 brake panel wont work with a CT swingarm, unless you can do some minor fabrication and weld a tab on the inside of the swingarm for the Z50 brake panel to lock into.

Do you remember the seller's eBay name/account? I'm most interested in the exhaust, but I don't see any. I keep burning my freaking leg, I've done it three times, you think I would learn, but no.... You can see it is right in the open ready to burn flesh.

Thanks,

Russ

My CT project has kind of been on hiatus for a while, lack of interest and disposable income were factors in that. But with the early spring I got the itch back to finally finish this thing. Just pulled it in the shop the other day and started on the wiring. I'm looking for a another Acewell gauge like I used on my Monkey, but am having trouble finding the 27xx series gauges that had a price tag of around $120...
Here's an updated pic just before I put it away last fall.
