done for the day

couldn't get it to start. pulled the tank and carb and it was filthy. dust literally fell out of the carb when i opened it. the tank has rust in it too. battery was dead, i hooked it up to a charger and could get the tail light on and the horn to work but that was about it. it didn't seem like the fuel pump was working

worked on the ruck a little today. swapped for a 2008 GET engine and 08 ECU.

Sanjuro ext installed

put some mirrors on

i still can't get it to turn over. the tank is rusty and there is what looks like either a rubber bladder or some lining coming off.

i hooked up a good battery and i can't get it to turn over. the horn and blinkers work but that's it. i opened the kill switch assembly and it looked good. all the wires look good to but NOTHING when you press the starter button. looked closer and noticed the starter relay was missing...duh! ....ordered it!

how difficult is the gy6 swap? and is the motor/swingarm the same dimensions as the stock bike?
from what i've read, it's pretty easy. they have bolt on and weld on motor mount brackets. the swinger in the pic is stock, i just have a 8 inch extension kit on it.

i'm going fatty so i'm not going to make the swap til i have all the parts needed.

Those tanks arent lined from the factory. That looks like some crap someone dumped in the tank. Best get that tank to a radiator shop or replace ($130 from Honda)....The fuel pumps in those are pretty horrible too....Good to see you back on the forum. Cool project.
yeah, i scored a new tank/fuel sensor/fuel pump off of a guy fro $60 shipped :D

Thanks Lenny....Don't think I will ever sell it. To much $ tied into it.The ATC's are a panic to ride.

btw get a ruckus.....the building on them is insane, fun, and can be costly. cheap and creative is the way to go ;)
Love to get one. I love the way yours is turning... What all can be done to the Ruckus?

Holy crap some really nice ones. Cruising at 60 mph...That would be cool. Are you putting the ruckus powerplant in the GY6?

tmas

lol no...that ruckus motor wouldn't move the big scooter i used to pull the gy6 out of.

i have my donor scooter sitting in my backyard. i'm going to pull the motor and paint it up, get it all pretty. i won't actually swap it until i have the fatty rear wheel.

Looking forward to seeing the finished product,i am interested in how easy this is,as i just got an 05' ruckus with blown engine, but was planning to do an elite 80 swap-2strokes r fun.but the gy6 has been considered

it's actually really EZ. the hard part is coming up with the $$ for the parts. the fatty rear rim and hub is $270 - $325 alone. gy6 fatty weld on mounts are only $90 shipped. after that, you just need to figure out the wiring and then the pipe (which u can just run a straight header)
