my last post wasn't very clear.



I mean how would you make the cut down the center for splitting the cases?



Milling I guess? It seems like the cut would have to very very precise and even to keep an equal gap with the rest of the cases, make sure the center gasket seals well.
 
Quick question though, do the XR80 motors have a motor mount bolt that go through the head? Or is it a plate that connects the cylinder/head to the frame?



Just thinking outloud here. Can't wait to see the final product.
 
Most of the series (I thought all, until recently) doesn't use any head stay. Only the late XL100 had one.



Nice work , Chad. You can ditch the sling plate, if you situate the pin just right, allowing a lot more to come off the right half if looking for a real light setup. 195cc may not want it, though. lol

Be careful pressing the crank back together, as the offset part of the pin is not as wide as the rod, usually. With the 6mm offset, weld a pair of tacks on each end once it's trued up. Or DIDN'T you fire your crank guy for being too slow?;)
