Just curious, what would be the best approach for more power on a 143cc with a se 2 valve head.

switching to a 160 bore kit is one option

or adding a 4 valve head

adding a 4 valve head and stroker crank

I still want reliability any suggestions please

I heard stroker cranks can be headaches??

just curious if the 4 valve head v.s. 2 valve would make much difference?

Thanks

There are many factors that may or may not add any power to your build, for instance, what carb? Which exhaust? Also where or what kind of riding do you do? Most of all.... What is your budget?

From my experience, you could port your SE head and get just as much if not more power than buying a 4V head.

Like Terry said, CC's do help, but if you are running a small carb or a pipe that is designed for smaller engines, you could be choking your big engine out and resulting in less power than what you have now.

Thanks alot for the feedback.

Budget really isnt a issue I just want the badest motor that is still reliable.

I am setting the bike up for track riding only.

I see BBR has a 160 kit basically the 60mm piston (same as the 143 I believe) and they add the 4 valve head and basically stroke it.

Is the the best power setup ?

I see they also have a 63mm 160 kit with a stock crank.

Thanks again for the feedback

Cubes is King;) Strokers are rarely an issue. Installer error, tuning, etc are often blamed on the crank. 66x55 makes a nice 188cc combo that will clear about any thing you dare attempt.

Who makes the 66 piston? I think it already has a 55 two brothers crank

Ill definitily be putting on a 28mm carb. It has a 26mm carb now.

Who are the top engine builders aside from BBR. Someone I can send the motor in and have it done

Lyle at CHP helped me out a lot getting my 143SE motor dialed in with jetting and other doodads. I would suggest talking to him to get you in the direction you want, or Terry on here (firepower354) has a shop and has built some rockin' motors.

down here in the west coast Don from Pax racing builds really fast/ reliable motors... he built a 178 for his son which i ride with and am good friends with a few years back and its still the fastest bike out on the track even with 100+ hours... give him a call heel get you taken care of 818 968 2261

How's about a 26 HP 194 kit?

When you start talking a $4500 engine, I'm pretty sure you'll rethink your budget.

Not out of the question. who makes it? and has it been tested enough to be reliable?

It's a bunch of off the shelf parts but as with any race engines. It's not necessarily what you get, it's how those parts are assembled. ( that's the biggest difference between an engine builder vs a parts swapper ) I'm sure many will agree with this statement.

That engine combination won quite a few outdoor nationals with out any failures in an entire season.

The only thing is you are asking for a reliable engine that in stock form makes just over 5 hp and gets boosted up to 26. This is an engine that will require some maintinence.

I dont mind lots of maintenance. I just hate bikes that are always 100 kicks to get it started and wont idle worth a crap thats more what Im talking about.

That engine combo sounds good. Im probably going to have a engine builder build it. Any ideas on any builders in the n.w. that have built that motor.

The other kits that seem to be popular are the 178cc and the 160 any feedback on these? the 178 kit is way cheaper , makes me wander why.

Thanks again for you knowledge!
