Well I've finally collected enough parts and gotten enough things off my plate to begin my long awaited super stock build. This was originally going to be a build with strictly leftover or takeoff parts but has evolved into something far different. I dont like doing anything half-ass and so the more I've delved into this project, the more unwilling I have been to settle for anything less than top notch as far as parts go. There are still plenty of leftover parts here such as frame, swingarm, frontend, fox floater, wheels, lots of misc. hardware, etc.
My goal with this project is to build the ultimate backyard thrasher with stock displacement motor. I wanted something fun enough for the veteran, yet something that a rookie could still get on without feeling intimidated and getting hurt. Of course it has to look bad a$$ too!
So I'm using a stock frame and swinger that have had every weld gone over and Tigged to clean up the ugly factory welds. I will also be cutting off all unnecessary brackets, glass blasting, and going over everything with SOS pad for that nice raw finish and then cleared over. The swingarm is also getting pivot works bearings to replace the ****ty stock bushings. The forks are just getting Two. Bros HD springs w/ delrin bushings & Pro Taper bar and clamp setup. Gonna stick with 10" wheels front and rear w/ HD spokes, stock drum brakes, & Michelin Starcross tires. The motor is gonna get treated to a Powroll 15:1 piston, Hot Cams stage 1, porting & polishing, high volume oil pump, HD clutch, & TB oil cooler. I dont know what head I'm gonna run yet. Maybe some input there might help. And of course there will be a fair amount of bling such as every C/F piece lightspeed makes, Taky billet dipstick, billet carb cap, billet choke plug, and some kind of billet gas cap (don't have one yet).
So there's just a lil overview on this build. Please follow along as I throw this thing together and any constructive advice is welcome. Here's a few pics to kick it off
This is all still "mock-up" phase. I'm gona tear it back down and finish the frame and there will be new wheels on as well. I just wanted to do a dry run so I could make sure I had all the nuts and bolts and all other misc. things. It's hard to know all the little things your gonna need until you actually start going together with it.
