Figured I would start a build thread for the z. Going to tear the bike down and start from there. Going to build the bike for dual purpose. I want to be able to take it off road and play in parking lots. Will update thread with parts choices and progress. More to come.

99 z50. Found some theeth in the oil so it will be getting a 4spd and 88cc big bore kit.

Nice color on that frame. How'd you pull the dent from the tank? If you're going with a 4-speed then any tranny from a 82-85 atc70/86-up trx70 should work. 82-84 is all down shifting and 85-87 is all up. Also an 88 kit will breathe much better with a bigger head. Crf70/xr70 heads are a cheap alternative or you can go all out and get the TB race head kit. Don't forget the upgraded clutch too.

Undercoated the bottom of the gas tank. Still not sure of a color for the tank.

Finished up the forks and bars.

Going to strip the wheels and hubs tomorrow. Wheels are going to be black. Hubs will be the same color as the tank and plastics. Thinking of white or blue.

Removed the biggest dent from the tank by putting a price of steel in through the filler hole and tapping it with a hammer. Finished it off with some mud. Primed and painted with GM Super White. Clear coat just needs buffed. Its not perfect but is 10x better than before. Painted the hubs same color. Tank, hubs and plastic will all be white.

As for hours I have about 8-10 right now. I would like to have a completed rolling chassis in less than a month. I still have to buy plastics, gas cap, tires, and seat cover/foam. I may just make my own foam and get some vinyl and make the seat cover. Not sure if I want to go with a red or black seat.

before i could put gas in the tank, i needed to do something about my cracked and dry gas cap gasket. digging around a box of random junk, i found a tank flapper for a toilet LOL. the inside diameter was a perfect match to the oem gasket. all i had to do was cut the outer diameter and cut off some access rubber to make it fit. some pics.

what i used

well picked up this China 110 pit bike. Was going to fix it up but did not want to dump money into a China bike. So... I pulled the motor and put it in the z. The motor is a 110 manual 4 speed. Run great and has lots of power. I may sell the stock z motor. More pics tomorrow.

well i needed a muffler for the pipe. kinda strapped for cash right now so i went to the autoparts store. came home with a mini glasspack...yes a glasspack. bought an adapter to neck down close enought the the 110's funny pipe. little bit of welding and test fitting i came up with this. haha i have to get some sound clips. this is really just a temporary exhaust until i get a legit setup.

i welded a nut on the backside so i can thread a bolt through to hold the exhaust bracket.
