ok, i just bought this bike, 03 for 900 bucks. it has an applied bar clamp w/ applied bars. i guess these are fat bars, and are thicker, like 7/8". anyways, im 6'1" and the bars dont seem to give me enough clearance. should i put bmx bars on, or get new mx bars w/ more rise? the thing i am worried about is that the applied clamp has such a big rise, so if i put some bmx bars on, the height may be too high, since most of those bmx bars, they assume you are using a clamp like a bbr w/ no rise on the clamp. if you dont understand my dilemma, just say, and i will re-clarify.

i think i understand that bmx bars have a thinner diameter while "mx" bars have the 7/8" diameter like my clamp. but above, when i was referring to bmx bars, i was referring to the height of them and how much bend they got.

HEY man if you find some bars that are taller but are fatter tell me, i have that same set up and you need new clamps to make most bars fit. I bought p3s and they didnt fit because my bars are fat.

i think get mx bars instead of bmx bars. mx and bmx refer to the size. there are some mx bars that are tall. try xr50.com.

********looks like i was wrong, maybe mx and bmx are both 7/8". mine is 1 1/8".

I got my new crf 50 for 1,200. 900 for a 03 is a lot. but ur probably going to trick it out :) what are ur future plans?

900 for a 03, had bar kit, skidplate, and ishock. i didn't think that was too bad? i can ge a 05 for 1200, but a 200 bar kit, 75 dolar skid, and 160 i shock will put me up near 1500, rather than 900. see what i mean? right now, i just want to fix my bars, prob front stiffer springs, and maybe blue plastic. bout it. -Ryan

- Unfortunately you have fat bars which are 1+1/8's in diamater and not 7/8's as convential bars are . So your kinda stuck as far as I can tell . Unless you can add more spacers under the bar mounts ???

- I'm 5'9" and have the Pro Taper pit bike bars they offer . They have the perfect pull back for me . I currently am run'n a BBR top mount and have to run an extra 2" spacer under it to get the proper stance I need to ride . What sucks is that you won't really know what's right for you untill you try diff set ups out .

look up Dans Comp, mail order BMX catalog they will have bar section telling what the rise, and sweep are, the "jumping bars" will have a thicker wall, im sure you could call them ,they are very helpful.

theres no way in hell your gonna fit any BMX bar on those clamps, they are waaaaay too wide. there too wide for most mx bars even!

also theres no 1 1/8" bmx bar so forget about it.

what you need to do is check out renthal's fatbar, they have a bar that your lookin for.
