Can I use a 5 pin cdi in place of a 4 pin?

My 2008 Lifan ct70 replica is e-start in is stock form and uses a 4 pin cdi system.



I am wondering if I can use a 5 pin in place of the misplaced 4 pin?



Anyone?

Theres a "Y" adapter, i bought one from Ahp so i could use the cdi that came with my takagawa kit to use on my lifan. Not sure/didnt pay attention to how many pins were in each.

no because that means that your 4 pin setup does not have an exciter coil to power the 5 pin cdi with ac current. On top of that, the 4 pin has no kill switch because all you do is cut the 12v power to stop it. A 5 pin needs to be grounded to stop it, or the engine would continue to power itself.
