Re: IRK issues?
for the most part, grouding is good, i thought about taking the wiring apart, redoing it all so i nkow its good. as for the kill switch, its not one of those ON/OFF ones. its just a push to kill. and IDK when i push the it for off, you gotta put it from the like kinda, if you push straight down it doesnt always shut the bike off. dont know if there could be anything there...the wires are not 100 percent secure, not many places to stash it....
new ? what exactly is that little black box thats part of the wiring, its not a CDI becasue there is no removable plug for it, just wires going into it. and you cant open it, its sealed, what exactly is that. i only see it on the IR kits. i am gettin somebody to send me a fly wheel, and puttin the stock ORK on. if it works i know its in the IRK. and ill go over what i can on the IRK to try and figure it out...i wish i could figure the brand of IRK. it might be a kitaco as well, like the bore kit. GRRRR this is driving me nutts

Re: IRK issues?
That box you have with the wires hang'n out of it .., is the cdi box ..
If it is a Kitaco brand inner rotor kit .., the aluminum plate that sits between the outer igntion cover and the engine case , will say Kitaco on it ..
Also .., if your inner rotor kit looks like a kitaco brand .., but has a red pick up coil around the stator instead of the black one ?? .. It's not a Kitaco brand .. From what I've seen on here ..., the non-Kitaco 50 inner rotor kits don't last as long as the Kitaco brand ones do ..

Re: IRK issues?
see if this helps if you havent all ready tried it.. its a very simple way to set it up. loosen all the bolts that hold the pickup and magnets just enough to get them to move. wrap a paper business card around the rotor so that it is mainly between the magnet and pickup push the magnet first against the business card making sure it is even around the rotor and tighten the bolts. then do the same with the pickup making sure it is centered on the slotted holes.this should set your clearances . are you sure the rotor is on straight? is it rubbing the magnet or pickup? are the long dowel pins that center the backing plate installed so its not moving? I have seen people use he stock ones and the backing plate does not center properly and the only other thing is the ground . make sure the motor is grounded to the frame and the irk ground is grounded to the frame. un plug the kill button and try it with out the kill button pluged in. hope this helps.. I have done a bunch of these and have no problems except make sure to use sealer on the outer gasket once you get it all figured out cause water will get in there from washing and rust that thing out.
