Alright, I dont really know how to start off so I am going to get right to the question.

Why do you guys, along with the rest of the mini market choose to mod the 50 four stroke motors. Like If it was possible to bolt up a 2stroke motor to the crf50 frame would you mod it instead. IMO I think by doing this it would even up the playing field.

For example to fully mod a 4stroke 50, you need a big bore, porting, cam, rev box etc.

Where on the 2stroke 50 all you need really is a big bore kit and porting to be competitive.

I think this would make it alittle bit easier, and cheaper to mod up a race competitive 50.

Also I can already imagin some of you replying saying that the 2 strokes are louder, then the 4, but in reality these mini 4strokes really do have a nice loud miniture crf450 bark to them.

And on the plus side they would be a hell-of-alot faster.

Tell me what you think about this topic.

i think your missing a few key priciples

although you are 100% correct on running a 50cc motor...it wouldnt be a playbike

a 2 stroke 50cc motor actually has some balls, but in such a way that its not much fun to ride.an xr50 motor usually has a nice smooth powerband, but with power EVERYWHERE(like a big 4 stroke) making it fun to ride,in alll conditions.on a 2 stroke your keeping it pinned all the time...you have to try to hard.these bikes also tend to be less matience then an avrage 50cc motor.the smaller pistons and clutch assembly wears VERY quickly even when ridden by a 60lb kid!

ill let someone else take it from here

Maybe we just have too much money burning holes in our pockets then.

Not to mention that the little 50cc 2strokes make about 0 tourqe, you ever hopped on one and tried to get it moving, they barely go, whereas the 50cc 4stroke motor will chug you along no problem and even get you moving as in the case of a stock crf up to 35mph.

Not to mention that if you start with a 50c 2stroke you are starting with something that was already ment for its purpose, in other words its already a race bike, the beauty and fun of the mini 4strokes is you are turning something that was made for a 6 year olds trailbike into a full blown racer, and thats just cool lol.

Right on!! Half the fun is making these bikes better and built for a purpose they were never ment to have.

I do see what you guys are saying but for example the KV75 is a 2smoke mini bike and it will haul around some good weight with some good speed to. I just seems that for a nice fast mini its the best way to go.

4 strokes are the way to go. The standard 50 motor can bolt up into any aftermarket frame. All aftermarket parts can bolt into a standard 50 frame. It's absolutely perfect. Besides the world is going to 4-strokes, not the other way around. Everything about the 50 is bulletproof. Spend a year and get involved with the pit bike scene and you'll see what I'm talking about.
