OK,, that is the first symtom as it lets the drum move side to side and sometimes binds,,
Now you will need to go inside,, start with shutting off the fuel and laying the bike on the left side to a point that the shifter does not hit the ground and can be moved (place the handle bar on a stand or crate), then take off the kicker, then all the side cover bolts and clutch cable when the mount is loose.
then push the clutch actuator and this will help pop the cover off, take care to not tear the gasket.
after removal of the cover look above kicker shaft and behind the clutch , check the idler gear and see it it has any front to back movement, this would be a sign that the bearing on the output shaft is about to fail, also this will let you look at the shift drum end and you will be able to shift and see what is going on there.
