Ya Tbolt builds some mean but yet reliable race motors. Their stock ones are the same as well! +1 for good seller as well

I agree... I have one gpx from Vince from 2006 not all stock but w minor mods. on one my street minis runs like a raped ape!! 2 kicks done!! ... working with Vince has been excellent and i still do bsuiness with him!!

Hey Lenny .. it has been a long time!! I hope u are well bro!!

Re: tbolt works 184

Hey Guys, I have one of the 184 Fusion Engines from Vince. First, off he's a straight forward guy and will go over board to make his customers happy. I have been dealing with T-Bolt since 2006 and I have nothing but good things to say about him, his work, and the way he conducts his business.......... But back to the engine, it’s a fusion 184cc full skirt and piston with slightly ported Honda style ports, 6 disk clutches, VM 26, TB short air intake, and FMF exhaust. I put this little torque monster in an 08 pitster X2 with a 10" back tire.........I am still learning the characteristics of the engine/bike combo b/c it is a task to manage all the power effectively and still be fast on the track. This set up I must say is not for the faint hearted........it revs up very fast and there is torque for days thru out the power curve which will put one on his ARS if one is not cautious.........As far as HP goes...........its plenty enough for my 10" set up, and honestly I don’t use all of the power b/c it just goes up in roost. Now you guys can fuss all day about HP and dyno numbers but those numbers are just the tip of the iceberg........its kind of like saying that "I have a 14" tally wacker". It’s just a number......and I want to see you use that thing (good luck). Bottom line is that I am a very happy camper with the Fusion 184cc engine and Vince is the man. If you guys need answers, give me a shout. BTW, the de-comp is a MUST HAVE, THIS THING HAS A LOT OF COMPRESSION!

I’m waiting on a 17t sprocket from Vince b/c I can’t keep the front end down under acceleration with the 14T and 39T rear.......even when I just roll on it the front seems to defy gravity. I need a 5th gear (lol) with the current setup, it also tops out really fast and it runs out of gearing. So I think that the 17T will help out a bit. The set up that I have is not for MX, I ride mostly woods and trails and have very little need for top end 4th gear pinned. Most folks get the $400.00 plus TB V2 and 28mm carb for this but I’m happy with my Honda ported head.

You might end up going with a 16t Thats what we run anyway a 17 is a little tall.. I have a 184V2 in my honda frame and use 15 and 16 fronts with 35 rears and I have 10in rear as well.. But with a stock Honda head it dosent pull as many rpms so the 16 and 17 are used.. You gain about 2 or 3 thouand more usable RPM with a V2 head and a S35 cam.. So with the same gearing you end up going a lot faster..

Taz what kind of RPM are/have you been pulling on the top end with that motor configuration for the last year with no failures?

I have a dirtmax YX stock head with the Honda ports that will pull 10K with good power running a 30mm OKO d-slide. The power start to fall off pretty good after that.

My TB V2 YX150 with 26mm OKO and stock cam pulled strong to 9K and started to drop anchor at 9.5K. It kinda felt like it was running out of air and the cam probably didn't have the needed duration, but the torque was uber good.

You're absolutly right about the TB V2! A few months back I posted a thread asking the CFM that would flow thru a stock yx head compared to a V2..........And the V2 is the way to go to maximize performace.

I am a bit skitish to rev this big block to 12-14K..........this is why i opted for the full skirt/piston set up. I would like to get at least a few years out of it before i fry the rings or something catastrophic happend. In the past, I had a piston destroy my ported E22 head and valves......twice! Therefore, i am a bit scared to rev it to the moon...........but if it had a honda or kawi warrentee attached to it, I would be bouncing the rev limiter on a daily basis:D

If you get engine to rev that high, you're on your way to a catastrphic failure. You would need better valve springs ect...

I would like to know how high these things can rev safely for fairly short periods. They used to recommend less than 10K and w/ an inner or outer rotor when these YXs first came out.

Some times you don't have to rev the snot out of an engine to break it. I blew one YX engine with V2 head just because the valve stuck. It happens sometimes, due to no fault of anyone.

Hey guys.. When my V2 was running the cam that comes with the head it pulled to about 9,000 and droped off bad with a 28mm carb.. I put the S35 cam in and it pulls to 12,300 GREAT... I have a full skirted 64mm piston I am using.. I road race it and when I put the cam in I had to go down a tooth up front because it was pulling Soooo much longer.. So with that cam its faster accelerating cause I could drop a tooth and pulls the same if not a tad more in each gear distance wise.. You port one of these stock heads or go with a V2 but unless you run the S35 cam it will never do those kind of rpms.. And the stock heads you cant get a better cam there is none made for it.. I tore mine appart this winter and all looks great.. I run my valves at about .004 or .005... And im not even running an oil cooler jetted right it dont run hot or anything.. So thats my setup.. I also have short crank with no slinger and a Daytona style clutch cover with filter.. So turning that high of rpms I dont have to worry about a slinger letting go.. I also use IRKs on all my engines..

we found the peak seems to be around 9800, but they will rev over 12,500, but they are not really doing anything up there, RPM is the enemy of thses engines, and personally I would build one to pull off the bottom and have a big midrange hit with a good topend, and gear accordingly.
